Ideally get the dragon saga bundle, otherwise you get locked out of buying the living world seasons from steam and have to use the in game gem store to do it.
But otherwise, you want the Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire bundle. It is by far the best expansion.

In theory the HoT+PoF bundle is the best offer, but since buying it would lock you out of the Elder Dragon Saga Complete Edition, which contains the Living World DLC (which is content similar to expansions but inbetween the expansions) I would suggest buying the bundle instead. Obviously during a sale when it gets a 5% discount. You can also buy the Living World ingame with gems but that's more epensive than buying the bundle and it also usually doesn't get discounts anywhere close to the 50% discount.

But even when you not want to buy the bundle you should still wait for a discount as those 2 expansions even get a 75% discount. I think the next Steam sale should also start next month, in like 4 weeks and one hour.

The bundle you're suggesting to buy instead is the Elder Dragon Saga-Complete Edition, correct?

I agree with the other posters - wait until the Steam summer sale and buy the whole discounted dragon saga edition. Most of the mounts are in Path of Fire which can make traversing the other expansions a little less stressful at times (or straight-up cheese some areas).
Is Path of Fire expansion the only way I can acquire or unlock mounts?

Nah, they changed that a few years ago. Now onwing any expansion unlocks the raptor mount. And some other mounts can also be obtained from other expansions as well, like the springer can be unlocked in 3 different expansions. But there are still some that require specific expansions or even Living World chapters. But most of the time you won't really need all of them, you mostly only need them in the expansions that are required to unlock them.

Btw, if you really want a mount right now you could also just buy the newest expansion, Janthir Wilds, as it's quite unlikely to get a big discount any time soon and it is enough to give yourself mounts and masteries (like the auto loot mastery) and get rid of the free2play restrictions, like only 3 bag slots instead of 5.

Correct. The one that usually costs 100€, or 50€ during a sale.
Thank you very much to those who took the time to answer my question :marijaonlooker:

Are you on drugs? The next sale is the summer sale, spring sale was months ago. Also you can't use the expansions on Steam if you get them on Anet and vice versa.

Sure but the steam release only has 2 advantages and a boat load of disadvantages.
If you need a local currency, or if you need linux support. Then the steam version is great for you.
Avoid otherwise. It's just headaches.
Unless your not working or have other priorities when it comes to money i suggest you buy now and save yourself the pain of being locked out of some great content , As it stands you level so fast to 80 that you will be craving content and flying mounts and to be fair you can blow the money their asking on a night out or in a fast food chain restaurant.

If you really like the game don't wait just do it.

Ah, my bad I meant the summer sale, not spring. I was saying that if she doesn’t have the game yet, I’d recommend buying it directly from ArenaNet during the sale. But yeah, if she already owns it on Steam or ArenaNet, then yeah, you’re right you’re locked into that platform since expansions aren’t cross-compatible.
