Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2

GW2 was the best mmo i ever played
I believe GW2 and Atlantica online were the best experiences i've had in my MMO journey.
But GW2 had the best content and way of grind.
I play these days Throne and Liberty and i can't ignore how GW2 kept the bar high enough for me to get disappointed when i see modern games fail so hard although they do have impressive graphics, dungeons mechanics etc.

GW2 has tremendous amount of things to do, i mean just to explore the whole map it is a lot to digest. But what made me hungry to keep playing and never get bored of repetitiveness was the structure of it's content.

1. World Bosses rotation, for a new player that was mind blowing once i have found out about it
2. Then it was Silverwastes, at first i had no idea what i was supposed to do there. But as i was following everyone else i was amazed how the map progressed into a siege event.
3. Then Heart of Thorns launched, jesus....
First to unlock all maps, fly into heights NO OTHER game has ever implemented this idea only to find out there's a Boss Dragon hanging there.
From the timer map rotation going for full Assault with hundreds of other players forming groups and following Commanders....

I can keep writing about this game but honestly as a solo player enjoying MMO's, i liked Destiny's public heroic events but compared to this beast i believe there's no game out there to challenge it.
And i haven't mentioned other game modes this game has to offer,

IF ONLY GW2 had modern graphics, physics etc it would have been the best MMO ever.

I've read something bout GW3.... i'm glad i'm not married or have children to raise.. i'm just saying

Haha! Sounds like GW3 might be a significant time commitment. Fingers crossed it's worth it!

gw2's immersion is one of the key things I give this game its due for. gw2 knows how to visually present a world and its scenarios to make an impression.

However, OP, you are basically realizing how it all works. The boss and world events are chronologically rotated in a loop. This gives the impression that the world is persistent and that 'something's happening'.

lol it's rare to ever hear anyone mention Atlantica Online. It's been a long time since I played it and I probably sank way too many hours into it back then. I will say though, I know a lot more about geographical locations irl than I would without it...haven't encountered any mmo like it to this day.

Yeah it was insanely fun to play, i remember going with our Guild and Alliances into dungeon events watching players incombat and joining their fight.

If it wasn't for the hideous monetize gambling garbage system they've had...

This is SO true, that's the only thing I'd wish for
Never know, if they pull of GW3, that might be exactly what's on the menu

Also, it's a miracle that all those toxic people who hate the game haven't attacked you and your post yet, they're allergic to anyone who likes the game hahah
I also had those romantic relationships.

Were this the case, WoW classic, Runescape, ESO, LTRO and EVE wouldn't be several times more popular than GW2.

the game engine is 13 years old and still works well and requires a much lower spec PC to achieve a good playable game.
GW2 is a very solid 6/10 game. On launch, for the first 2 years, i would've given it an 8/10 because it was very active, and learning the game was fun. In 2025, GW2 is a miserable 4/10 MMO that you play if you can't afford new releases, or are not a gamer, and just play whatever you've seen a ad for.

What is the real best MMO ever made? For its time, without a doubt, its GW1.

If we're looking at what's currently out and alive in the mmo space, there isn't a single good mmo worth trying, let alone investing hundreds of hours into.

Mini mmo's/live service games such as Path of Exile or MH Wilds do a better job at the mmo part than actual mmo's🤦‍♂️

yeah that's old school, i think it's from ncsoft? they created one of the most p2w games ever made, Lineage 2 which btw still alive, i loved that game but it was truly p2w to the core.

Nice broken link. Always trying to prove something that doesn't exist, and is extremely paranoid about my factual takes. And you have sub 5h in gw2, what do you even know about this game? Literally nothing outside of spamming auto attacks lol.

its better than that he waited 11 years to make a legendary but quit playing in 2019 maybe he need to go look at the release date again.
