Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2

Why I don't want an original Guild Wars remake or a return to the original Guild Wars
Starting with the basics, they will clearly not nerf 55 because there will be an outcry, but there's the potential for something like 55 to be nerfed.

55 as a whole is an unintentional result from 2 to 3 skills interacting at a minimum.

The original developers allowed it because the old design principles were that such builds sell the game, but in modern video game design, that is a cause for a nerf because they believe someone may be discouraged by such gameplay.

Not to mention they might nerf the heavy synergy play style because it's hard and overpowered because they believe someone will think the game is hard and sweaty and won't want to buy it.

Look at something like the Signet of Pious Light. It was a perfectly normal skill, but because in the eyes of the modern design it's too sweaty, it was unfairly nerfed when the Guild Wars 2 team was updating the original Guild Wars.

Then it's the narrative side. I'm not just worried about retcons or censorship, though; that will be really bad as well.

I'm also heavily worried that even if they keep the story as it is without any changes, they most likely will mess up the narrative design.

The original Guild Wars all the time relies on non-direct and visual storytelling in a narrative that is meticulously crafted piece by piece.

For example, the Nightmares are creatures that will only appear surprisingly on Tyria in the original Guild Wars, where the walls between the mist and Tyria are the thinnest.

Because the Nightmares are such random enemies that appear out of nowhere in the path of the players, they might remove them or simply forget them.

Or change how they spawn or where they spawn.

Or change their design in a way that doesn't fit the narrative.

So, no, it's better to allow the original Guild Wars to be as it is with no changes or remakes, because the experience won't be the same.

You want the remake or not, its not happening. Anet is literally supporting gw2 on Welfare checks sent in by NCSoft on a quarterly basis. With what kind of buget are you expecting them to release a remake of the first game? The future of anet is looking extremely grim, and when their card game launches and bombs (guaranteed under 200 players within 3 weeks), expect the dark days to begin.

Yes, but just in case.
Also, what you said is brutal to the max.
