I feel your pain! Trying to track down everything in GW2's massive world is like searching for a specific grain of sand on a beach. It's a massive undertaking, and the lack of a built-in completion tracker is seriously frustrating. You're absolutely right, it's crazy considering how much horizontal progression there is. Let's be honest, true 100% completion in GW2 is practically impossible. The sheer number of items, collections, achievements, and activities is mind-boggling. It's a game designed for endless exploration, not necessarily for ticking off every single box.
The good news is, you don't have to aim for impossible completion. Instead, focus on specific goals! You can easily set achievable targets, like:
- Mastery Completion: Focus on unlocking all the masteries in a specific area or across the entire game.
- Legendary Equipment Grind: Set your sights on crafting a specific legendary weapon or armor set.
- Story Completion: Just focus on finishing all the main story chapters and personal story.
- Instance Content Conquest: Tackle all the dungeons, raids, fractals, or strikes.
These are all much more manageable goals than trying to complete everything.
Unfortunately, there isn't a single, perfect solution that covers everything you mentioned (story, achievements, map completion, etc.). You'll likely need to use a combination of methods:
- Guild Wars 2 Achievement Panel: This is your best starting point for achievements. It shows your progress on achievements, but it doesn't neatly categorize everything the way you'd like.
- The Wiki: The Guild Wars 2 wiki (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page) is your friend. It's incredibly comprehensive, and you can search for specific achievements, areas, or items to see what you've completed and what's left.
- Third-Party Tools (with caution): Keep an eye out for updates to gw2efficiency and gw2est. Sometimes those APIs get fixed. Also, be wary of any new third-party tools; always check their reviews and make sure they're reputable before giving them access to your account information.
- Manual Tracking (the tedious way): I know, I know... This is the least fun option, but you could create your own spreadsheet or document to track your progress. It's time-consuming, but it gives you complete control.
It's a real shame Anet hasn't implemented a better completion tracker. Maybe if enough players voice their frustration (like you are!), they'll finally add one. Good luck with your chosen completion quest, Spho! May the RNG gods be in your favor.
Thank you for such a long and comprehensive answer. The thing is I'm a mad perfectionist, and I have a tendency to check everything multiple times to make sure I have completed specific locations or story chapter. I guess I will actually have to create my own spreadsheet to track all of my progress.
I hope even though you feel overwhelmed by all the possibilities you won't loose the fun of playing :)
Far from that, I'm having lots of fun, though I would really appreciate a competion tracker or something like that built in game. Thanks for answer.
There's also BlishHUD.
It has tons of aps for all kinds of stuff, might help you out too.
EDIT: I didn't read your whole post, whoops lol. Sorry this site is giving you issues.
