4th place is the worst MMO.... whatever you say my dude
1)Bad and boring story
2)No quests or no epic long questlines
3)No gear progresson (players are wearing the same gear from 2012)
4)Need to buy all patches and all expansions separately (in WoW, FFXIV and ESO we only need to buy the latest expansion and patches come free with the expansion)
5)No dungeon finder and raid finder
6)No meaningful character progression
7)No real competitive endgame (like heroic or mythic raids or mythic+ dungeons)
8)Dungeons are abandoned (no new dungeons in the expansions)
9)No mounts for base game owners
10)All the good looking cosmetic gear goes to the cash shop.
Far from what I would call well thought out, expertly worded or in depth but I guess it'll have to do...
1. That's kinda subjective, don't you think? I find the story in all MMOs to be like watching a relatively bad, cheaply made movie as that's pretty much the best they can achieve. They aren't story focused games so if story is what you want, there are much better options out there.
2. You mean fetch quests aka "go to the question mark, kill 10 black wolves, go to the exclamation mark and get reward, then go kill 15 red wolves, get reward, then kill 20 foxes..." you get where this is going. I am glad it doesn't have that. If I wanted those I would play other MMOs or some Bethesda game.
3. Something that is known since before the game was released and I don't see why that is a bad thing. Not having to run the same content in an effort to not be left behind is bad apparently. Also, wearing the same since 2012 is also not true. They may not be increasing the item level but they introduce new stat combinations which allows for a variety of builds, especially for those that don't chase after the meta.
4. Depends. For someone that plays, they only have to buy expansions when those release... similar to the rest. For someone joining in now, the cost is 90€ for everything but that's without a monthly subscription so in the end... still cheaper.
5. It exists for a lot more things than just instanced content
6. Define meaningful. If this is going back to the carrot on the stick gear thing... I can do without just fine.
7. "Competitive" PVE as an argument for anything...
8. Dungeons as dungeons haven't had anything new in years now. Raids have been seemingly abandoned as well and overall instanced group content is on a drip feed release schedule. They name things differently though so it's not like there was no release in 7 years.
9. Why would they exist? If you have any experience with GW2 mounts you wouldn't give them for free either. They aren't your typical plank with a speed boost from other MMOs. On top of that, they are an expansion feature and not something the game had on release and for several years after that... until Path of Fire got released.
10. That's false. The cash shop has mostly over the top, overdesigned stuff that make any kind of immersion disappear. If looking like a disco ball is your go to in MMOs then yeah, all the good stuff are in the cash shop.
Oh & you do need to buy ESO "patches"
They're free if you have ESO Plus... so if you pay a monthly fee
No. 1 is especially true of the core, I don't know how they managed to make a worse story than GW1, but they did. It's shallow, saccharine yet also cheesy.
I don't expect much from mmos in terms of story, but it would be nice to at least not actively repulse and bore me.
Character progression took a hit for the sake of balancing, more standardised & streamlined, yet they still can't balance anything without nerfing entire classes into the ground.
The reason the expansions have mounts is the same reason expansions have a power creep.
There's a lot of eye-cancer in this game. It is a mess of bright colours, over-the-top effects and is a thematic mess. The cosmetics included.
Want a good MMO? Go with TESO, or if you don't like the style, go with FFXIV.
This is not twitter. Here we only share our opinions, we don't and can't, force them on anyone.
And then you mention the word FFXIV wow rofl...
And 4) erm you buy PoF and you get HoF etc.
The rest of your points as well as those i mentioned show you don't actually know a thing as most are in the game already, seems you are just a bad troll.
And there is less competitive end game in all the MMOs you mentioned, you literally need to go back to Everquest to find truely competitive end game raiding, no instanced timers so if you loose the race to engage you loose the timer for days/weeks until your next chance.
I look at a dungeon now and say to myself 'just not worth my time'
The rewards are not worth my time.
Oh then there are the world boss fights. What's the point? You have this big ball of flashing lights, you don't know if you are actually hitting the boss or killing passing ducks, so you just spam keys, there is zero skill needed.
Everything I do in GW2 feels pointless. With games like ESO and FFXIV you have to work for your rewards and when you get those rewards it all feels worth it.
On launch GW2 was excellent but over time I feel it has since gone down the wrong path. Don't even mention all that Karma rubbish, my inventory is full of the garbage.
