Guild Wars 2
Something Stopping Me From Buying this game.
free 2 play for a while now, and Something nagging and always stopping me from buying this game, Many people keep saying its worth But on my perspective its not. Dungeons and raids and other older contents are Kind of "abandoned" Don't talk to me about fractals and strike I know em. But how I can buy an expensive DLC when I can only play are the story and the open world, But I can't fully enjoy playing it fully because the dungeons and raids and other contents I cannot because players "No longer/kind of playing it anymore all the time." You had to find someone willing to try it for you But most of the time I just can't find people. The way I look at it, I'm ain't winning and money is not worth it.

The perspective of the people who say it is worth is that of people who play the B2P game, yours seems to be from an outsider – it would have to be if you never bought it.

Yes, dungeons are no longer an active part of the GW2 endgame, neither are Orrian temples. Both of these were not further developed or supported after the launch of the game.
I still think that dungeons are worth doing, and you can do so during Dungeon Rush events. Story mode dungeons in particular are a part of the base game's story and easy enough to be done with one other player, or at most two – depending on how much you are willing and able to engage with your professions and mechanics.

Some context on dungeons for those who don't know:

There are eight dungeons in the base game. Each of them has a story mode (which upon completion unlocks the harder explorable mode with multiple paths).
The story mode dungeons tell a storyline that runs parallel to your personal story. Narratively, it is kicked off by the first story instance on level 40 ("Setting the Stage")
and concludes with the last mission of the core game's personal story, which was formerly the last dungeon's story mode.
Thus, finishing the personal story before the other story mode dungeons will somewhat spoil that storyline's conclusion.

After completing the first story instance on lvl 40 (meeting of Destiny's Edge in Lion's Arch):
• Ascalon Catacombs
• Caudecus' Manor
• Twilight Arbor.
During or after the level 50 story:
• Sorrow's Embrace
After finishing the level 60 story:
• Citadel of Flame
• Honor of the Waves
• Crucible of Eternity (best right at the beginning of the level 70 story)
… before beginning the level 80 story.

I usually refer players to a Reddit comment for more details on how to time their story dungeon runs: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/x43fmk/comment/imu2mmb/

But when it comes to raids, I assume that you get the impression from the outside that they are also abandoned. People who actually run them – which definitely isn't the vast majority of the playerbase – would beg to differ.
But sure, raiding is nowhere as active as in, say, WoW or FF XIV.

What is worth it or not is different for each and every person, but I bought GW2 for €55 in July of 2012 and didn't regret it at all. Since you can get the Elder Dragon Saga Complete Collection for $/€ 50 on sale and get …
  • the full base game which used to cost $/€ 55 + Living World Season 1 for free
  • HoT+PoF which today cost $/€ 30
  • EoD which today also costs $/€ 30
  • Living World Seasons 2, 3, 4, and 5 (IBS) … which on their own cost $/€ 52
… I can't see how anyone could honestly say that it isn't worth it.

Why not though? How much do you know them?

only the open world … is something that would make sense if coming from other big MMOs, where the open world isn't nearly as relevant as in GW2. The massive open world events and the a world that feels more alive for it are as much GW2's USPs as the horizontal design.

If nothing else, maybe get the HoT+PoF bundle on sale for $/€ 15. Or would you argue that not even that is worth it?

Even its sale its DLC still expensive in my country 4 digits and almost up to 2K Each DLC Unlike from WOW, FF14, ESO, and others MMO's i play. But that was a good answer i was looking for :> Im gonna finish the Living world season 1 Which is free and gonna decide afterwards. Thank you! Also im planning to switch on regular one, Other people said its better to switch to launcher version than the steam version.

Definitely a good idea. There is a lot of content in the base game. You can also do dungeons, some fractals, PvP, WvW etc.

I don't know the currency you are talking about, so any number of digits doesn't mean anything to me. :-?
Still, this is kind of surprising to me.
Let me give a full breakdown of all the money I spent on Guild Wars 2:
I bought the Digital Edition in July 2012 for €55, then in 2013-14 bought gems thrice for €55 more.
In Sept. 2021, I bought HoT+PoF for €15 and a month later pre-ordered EoD+4000💎 for €80. In 2023, I bought more gems for €30 and SotO+4000💎 for €75. This Aug. a day before launch, I bought JW for €25. So, I spent €334.51 and played for 25 months from Aug. 2012-Aug. 2014 plus 53 months from May 2020 (following the announcement of Return to Living World, when you could unlock all of the Living World for free over the course of the summer) to October 2024 (current month as of writing) = 78 months.
I also played occasionally on between, mostly during Festivals like Halloween and Super Adventure Festival, but I probably wouldn't have renewed a subscription for that.

If you buy WoW game time in 6 month blocks, which is most economical, 78 months will cost over ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS. I (don't even) want to know how many digits that would be in your currency.

But with WoW, you also need to buy the expansions when they are new (and due to the structure of the game, the only content that is worth playing).

Nice, I hope my guide helps. But make sure you don't end up paying a lot more. I mentioned that Steam can help with regional pricing after all.

I'm on right now and there's people in the human starting area. I'm sure I could get a squad going for any dungeon in a few minutes.

Some off-topic on dungeons:

There are eight dungeons in the base game. Each of them has a story mode (which upon completion unlocks the harder explorable mode with 3 or 4 paths).
The story mode dungeons tell a storyline (concerning the members of Destiny's Edge) that runs parallel to your personal story.

• Caudecus' Manor (ideally before you do the Order of Whispers storyline on level 40)
• Twilight Arbor.
During or after the level 50 story:
• Sorrow's Embrace (this one includes a cinematic that retells what happened to Destiny's Edge and why they split up. Basically the short version of the plot of the novel "Edge of Destiny")
After finishing the level 60 story:
• Citadel of Flame (if you try to access this dungeon from the open world in Fireheart Rise, you need to finish an event chain, which is a thematic addition, but if you want to skip it, you can also use the Dungeon Transports NPC in Fort Marriner, LA)
• Honor of the Waves
• Crucible of Eternity (best right at the beginning of the level 70 story)
… before beginning the level 80 story.

But starting after Setting the Stage and doing the dungeons as they become available will work just fine too.

I usually refer players to a Reddit comment u/Silverglance for more details on how to time their story dungeon runs: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/x43fmk/comment/imu2mmb/
