Will expansion DLC go on Sale for Steam Autumn or Winter Sale ?
I have been enjoying the game on the free version and want to get all the DLC's. It would cost about $110 for everything. It would be really annoying to buy everything before they go on Sale in a few weeks or days... is there any chance they will ?

the elder dragon saga goes on discount , maybe even obscure but janthir wild will be unlikely because it got released like 2-3 months ago
discount is possibly 50% , in that case get the elder dragon saga that contains : heart of thorns , path of fire , end of dragons , living world season 2-4 and icebrood saga

I also go into sales in the latter half of my guide:

Since you only have 6 hours of GW2 on record, if you are on a Steam account, I think you should consider the first half of the guide aswell, but it's up to you of course. Leave a comment under the guide (or here), if anything is unclear. You can also DM me if it's complicated.

The HoT+PoF pack is usually -75% on sales; so are the Deluxe Upgrade Packs for both in the gem store, which is a great deal.
EoD and the Elder Dragon Collection(s) were -50% in the last few sales.
The Elder Dragon Saga Complete Edition on sale is the cheapest way to get all story content, because it is the highest-ever discount on the Living World seasons. 50 bucks for the amount of content is really, really good.

Also what Spirit wrote about the newer two expansions. Secrets of the Obscure may be discounted for the first time this sale, but Janthir Wilds won't be, I'm quite certain of that, since SotO hasn't been in its entire first year.

Alone the Elder Saga complete edition already costs 100$, so since it still lacks 2 expansions it should be way more than just 110$. Also, be aware of that you need to buy that bundle if you want to buy the Living World DLC on Steam and don't have to buy them in the ingame gem store with gems as you can no longer buy the bundle once you own any of the first 3 expansions.

And yes, in 2 days the Steam autumn sale starts and it is very likely that most GW2 expansions as well as the Living World DLC will get a discount.

According to steamdb, last year they got on sale on both autumn and winter sale, expect the same one to also happen, I'd be patient and wait for a few days before buying

I'm also waiting for a sale. I used to have an Anet account, bought the HoT+PoF DLC when it first came out. I haven't logged into the game for years. Today I tried to log into the game but it won't let me, even though all the codes are correct. I can log into the Anet website. When I sent a ticket, they just said I entered it wrong. Okay, fine. I'll just dump that ID and buy it on steam, but I won't buy it at full price.

How do you start the client?
Do you run the Gw2-64.exe in the Guild Wars 2 folder or do you launch it on Steam using -provider Portal?
It's important that you write EXACTLY
-provider Portal
. If you write lowercase portal for instance, it won't work, but will say "The code you entered is invalid. Please check your information and try again."

Check the guide I linked further up if you want a visual reference.

Steam sale is up now! Same sale as before - worth checking out.
(And ofc the sale is on Anet too)

FYI, the Elder Dragon Collection on the original site is now only $20!
https://buy.guildwars2.com/en-us/collections?tab=0

That's cheaper than here,
perfect time to jump of from Steam and create a new account, away from all the Steam problems.

That's because on Steam that bundle doesn't exist, so you have to buy the single items, which costs 22.5$, so just a bit more expensive. The Elder Saga Complete Collection costs the same here on Steam and on their website. Or I guess here on Steam it's even a few cents cheaper, since for me it's 49.67€ vs 49.99€. But still that little to not prefer one platform over the other just because of the price.

Thanks Nico!

You know how much I advocate for people to inform themselves about the benefits of a standalone Anet account, but let's stick to the facts. People should inform themselves and then make informed decisions. That's what my guide is for.

The REGULAR edition of the Elder Dragon Saga Collection is 19.99 on the website, but it doesn't contain the EoD deluxe upgrades (including a character slot) or – more importantly – all the Living World seasons.
The Elder Dragon Saga Complete Collection at 50% off is the best deal containing the Living World seasons. I'd say the regular edition is a bad recommendation (unless you're on a tight budget), especially during a sale.

Off sale (in case anyone reads this later), I believe that the Elder Dragon Saga Ultimate Edition (which isn't available during sales), which costs the same as the Complete Edition, but contains 4000 gems instead of the Living World seasons 2-5, is the best deal. (The four Living World seasons 2-5 cost 4160 gems in total, but they also go on sale sometimes. With 4000 gems, you can get them as and if you need them, benefit from sales, and the gems are not tied up with something that you may or may not get to.)
