How to make lots of gold from amalgamated gemstones

With the release of the new legendary spear Klobjarne Geirr there is a growing demand for amalgamated gemstones which have skyrocketed in price.

So here's how you get lots of them, there is a little known recipe for the mystic forge were you put 3x 25 tier 6 gemstone, doubloon or crest and 5 ectoplasm and you will be guaranteed 10 amalgamated gemstones and on occasion you will receive 25 amalgamated gemstones.

I recommend to do this with orbs and crests only as doubloons can be quite expensive.

You can sell the amalgamated gemstones for at the time of this post 1.2g

Your mystic forge recipe could look something like this 25x coral orb 25x crest of the magi 25x crest of the soldier 5x ectoplasm [/quote]

But you could use any orb, crest or doubloon as long as you have 25 of them.

Or just do the recipe for 1 amalgamated that costs 3 x 3 and a pile of crystalline dust instead of ectoplasm because ectoplasm is quite costly. Sure it's more tedious in larger numbers but if you get the 5 x proc even once you've already gotten a better deal than baseline 3 x 25.

Unless you're working with really big numbers of gemstones, in which case I really want to know where you're getting all these gemstones because the trade post is not profitable.

Already not worth doing this, at most you will break even if you buy everything and count in the TP fee.
If you need them yourself however it might still be worth your time.

To each their own, but I would also only do this if I needed the gemstones myself and already had the mats to craft them.
Any margin created by the sudden rise in demand due to the new legendary spear will be quickly filled by people who also want to make gold this way.

It's still profitable for now, maybe only several days left until orbs are too expensive.

You can do better than selling the gemstones directly. You can buy discounted Shards of Lowland Shore[wiki.guildwars2.com] and Shards of Janthir Syntri[wiki.guildwars2.com], and sell those. These require some work though; you need to complete JW hearts, then you can buy 7 per heart per week.
