this hasn't been fixed, you can't hide these models by settings, they keep adding similar skins to the gemstore
Either way a way to hide suer skins in general'd be nice as general QoL thing.
(off to read the forum-post now tho)
EDIT: Okay, red through the post and yeah that is intact bad.
Tho I gotta say, some people in there using several generations old gpus and cpus are definitely having issues because of the age of their hardware in general in addition to those skin related issues.
Yes, this fps issue should not be a thing, but at the point where you are several generations behind on hardware and operating system, and "out of service" for more than only a few years, one has to ask themselves what they can do to reduce the issue on their end, since the devs seem either too unwilling, or incompetent, to fix it on the games side.
A pc with decent low budget hardware that easiely outperforms for example a gtx960 and i7 3770 (a combination that was mentioned in that post) would not even cost close to 1000USD. especial if buying second hand, you could easiely get one under 800 bucks if you shop smart... I mean, i have a build on pcpartpicker that is under 800 bucks ( idf you'Re curious https://pcpartpicker.com/user/NorokVokun/saved/mfGZ23 ) all new. and if you bought all used parts, you could propably shave at least 30% of that off.
Last post was a year ago and it only happens in melee range.
Yet, people are still showing up to the Metas by the dozens.
2. Your own inability to save gold doesn't make the store predatory.
3. Your inability to save IRL money does not make the store predatory.
4. P2W and P4C are very different, do not mistake them again.
5. Do not talk in the third-person again.
Think before you post next time.
P2W would be an objectively biased advantage to those who have something you can only get with paying real money and no other alternative that makes core game mechanics trivial. So a fine example would be to look at BDO. You can buy guaranteed methods of upgrading your gear that you can't get by playing for free. That's paying to win a game of chance via brute force that can only be bought with real cash. This also gives the person paying an immediate advantage over others unwilling to pay as the chances of successful gear upgrade becomes exponentially more difficult.
I just did the New Kainig Blackout meta last night with an uncountable number of players, enemies, and active effects on the screen in the final battle with no noticable drop in framerate using a 3950x CPU and a 4090 running at 67% of factory default power level.
If someone's skin is tanking your framerate then maybe try and figure out where the bottleneck is in your hardware configuration.
But the awful things they've done to GW2 over the years have hurt the game so much more than MTX ever could:
• Nerf every profitable farm and meta cause making a decent amount of gold without treating GW2 as a second job is no good.
• Turn every achievement into a 1 point reward and some version of "kill/ do this task x100/ 1000/ 5000 times".
• Kill dungeons instead of improving on them.
• DRMs. which are essentially worse dungeons - they got killed off as well.
• Introduce Strikes to solve the gating problem raids have when it comes to the general playerbase, only for Strikes to become a poor man's raids v2 with kp/ LI and even Title requirements.
• Speaking of raids, reminds me of them walking back on their promises about Legendary gear with the Relic fiasco.
• Atrocious story with atrocious writing, writers that are so high off their own farts, they make Dragon Age Veilguard seem like a work of art in comparison. And they are damn proud of it too, they haven't even provided the option to skip that stuff for a long while now.
• Introducing atrocious fractals and CMs like SS and LT, Sunqua was the last fun Fractal encounter they put out.
• EoD was an underwhelming expansion that looked like it never properly came out of Beta, SOTO was literally a Living World season sold as an expansion and people that bought it didn't even get what they paid for right away, they got it in Early Access form.
• They are literally scamming newer players (and old ones that are dumb enough to fall for it, you get what you deserve) by replacing expansions with Early Access Living World seasons.
The people that created the fun content in GW2 that STILL holds up to this day are clearly long gone from Anet or at least from GW2. I'll be shaking my head in disappointment when W8 comes out and is inevitably an absolutely buggy mess with re-used EoD/ SOTO/ Janthir open world or story bosses whose only difference will be that they have 500M HP or something.
Going back to WoW and their longevity, is that it required a straightforward subscription fee. It means devs don't have to sweat too hard about having a massive cash shop of fluff or an expansion that's a flop. They also made it so the all previous expansions become free and you only need to pay for the current one. This keeps new people from having to drop at this point (if they had to buy all previous expansions) about $480. That's an insane buy in to get relevant content.
Seems ridiculous that one of the bigger mmo's is struggling to keep up with it's contemporaries, like WoW and FF14, that adhere to more traditional monetization and content updates. Perhaps it really is that the ArenaNet devs with any talent have long since left and the new blood has no clue what they're doing.
