PvP ones anyway
Rogulites is the new thing
We haven't had any big CCG's for a while (that I can think of)
Without knowing anything about the game, I would say it's likely it will be a roguelite deckbuilder
I'm a bit tired of roguelite deckbuilders myself though
Another scenario I see happening is that it will have a roguelite singleplayer campaign and PvP multiplayer
Just played a pretty unknown CCG lately that did exactly that
If done right, can reach a larger audience
First, I had some questions, if I may. I could just assume I know what you mean based on what you've written, but better to not guess.
1. By "CCG" are you referring to video games, digital card collecting, physical card collecting, or combination of all? (Since CCG just means "Collectible Card Game" and could refer to a lot of different games.)
2. What are you basing popularity on? Sales? Player-base? Longevity? Other factors? Could you be specific and provide the sources for the information?
3. By "Guild Wars Original" are you referring to just the first trilogy, the trilogy + Eye of the North, or just Prophecies? ( since it released first)
4. What constitutes a "recognizable and rich IP", please give specific examples or definitions as to how we are judging this.
5. Is the CCG you are referring to this one? https://steamdb.info/app/3231530/depots/
If so, it’s interesting all this talk over a game that does no exist outside of some encrypted placeholder files and a picture. Personally, I will wait till actual verifiable information is released from NCSoft or ArenaNet, as SteamDB’s only comment regarding the “game” is:
“This app is hidden to the public. SteamDB has seen data for this app before, so for historic purposes it has been kept visible on this page, and may be out of date.”
If you click on the page link for the parent app (AP ID 3214150 for reference) it has no information other than this:
“This app is hidden to the public. There is extremely limited to no information available about this app”
If you happen to have more information regarding its existence, please provide the sources, I’d love to read them.
6. Regarding your statement about the Afflicted. This made me think that for Question 3 you must mean the Trilogy of games, since the Afflicted only appear in Factions (go ask Shiro, *wink, wink* lol). That being said, your statement regarding Wooden Potatoes specifically just comes off as just egotistical narcissism. If you had bothered to do any research regarding that, you would know that he has done entire play-throughs of the trilogy, as well as rather lengthy lore video playlists.
I will admit I don’t expect much in the way of a reply, I have attempted to actually discuss the games with you before, I have played Guild Wars quite a bit, still do in fact, and was usually met with no actual responses other than more of how much you dislike Guild Wars 2, which is fine, that’s the great thing about opinions. Since opinions are not facts, everyone can have one and no-one is right or wrong.
I would be happy, as I mentioned, to go over all the knowledge I do have about the games, to have a real discussion, I am just curious whether or not you will do the same, since so far, you only ever seem to just post so you can insult others, the Guild wars 2 game and developers, and anyone who doesn't immediately agree with everything you say.
Quick edit: did want to ask..regarding the afflicted,. well, I try to not spoil things for those that may not have gotten to experience for themselves..Is there something specific you'd to know? How they are created, where found, the different types, best methods to combat, or something else. honestly, Lore side, they are not really that complicated, but i'm glad to humor you however I can. :)
NCSoft doesn't visit this forum, buttercup.
So you are talking only to us.
Care to respond to any of the other questions/topic presented to you, or just gonna keep posting random info we could all google in a few seconds? :)
Edit: Did want to add, for sake of discussion, that the Afflicted are an interesting enemy, akin to Zhaitans Undead. I mean, they're neat, and the idea that they were created through being associated with Shiro is neat, but all that really happens Lore wise in Beyond is discussing how to end their threat, and then trying to setup and close out the story to prepare for GW2, which while the story was great, it was left incomplete in that regard, sadly. :(
There is much more lore to draw of of than the Afflicted and factions, there are still Prophecies, Nightfall, Eye of the North, etc, and then the books and Guild Wars 2. There is a ton of lore and story to make a game from.
As for whether or not the game makes money, well first, it doesn't exist, it's just a bunch of placeholder and test files, the kind used when an idea is just being considered, and they want to make sure that they are able to test ideas as they toss them around.
For me at least, the thing that will determine if I play a game seriously, or casually, (regarding card games, of course) is the mechanics of the game. Story and lore are great, but in card games, the rules and actually game play mechanics are whats gonna sell it.
Would I buy the game just for it's story and lore ant the fact its part of the Guild wars series, most likely,if the price is ok, but I'm a fan of the games and ArenaNet, so that's just me.
- The Am Fah
- OG Jade Brotherhood
- The Sickened creatures/people from the beginning of Factions
- The Shiro'ken (with special cards denoting bosses at Tahnnakai Temple?)
- Potentially foes from Echovald/The Jade Sea (they could be an expac all on their own)
- Ministry of Purity
- and of course a few cards for Shiro himself.
Price it reasonably, and you got your draw.
