I can't play with my Friends

I am loving Guild Wars 2 and have invited several friends to play, who have already downloaded the game and are having fun. However, I can't play with them, either in PvE or PvP. We are playing on an American server, and I have already added them to my friends list, made a party (and Squad), teleported to the same city, and yet I can't find my friend in the game. I also click on my friend's character icon, but the 'join' option doesn't appear for me to access their instance.

I have also relogged many times, and still, I can't find them. When we go to PvP, it's not possible to find them there either, and it’s also not possible to start a PvP match while in the same party as my friend, as it gives a connection error. I have searched for a solution to this problem in various forums and have never found a solution for this case.

Please, I need help!

I never heard of a scenario where the join button doesn't show up if both players are on the same map and in the same server region ...

Meaning that all I can say is to make sure that all conditions are properly met. First of all, if an update happens it is possible to play on different build versions for a few hours, but that's probably not it. It might be possible that you are not on the same map, like since you said instance there is the slight chance that you are'nt talking about an open world map but a pricate instance ...

But my best guess would be that for some weird reason you are actually in different server regions. so idk, maybe double or triple check if you really both are in the same server region? I don't know ho wto see it for sure, I guess. Maybe try to check the LFG and check if you see the same LFG's?

You could also try to use a Teleport to Friend item and see if that one works.

1. One is in EU servers while the other is in US servers.

2. One hasn't fully updated nor downloaded every update file and hit the PLAY NOW button pausing the download.

The latter is more likely so be sure both you and your friend have every file downloaded from the launcher. If not, you won't be able to see each other.

Wel, like I asked earlier ...

1. If you both check the LFG, do both of you see the same LFG's?

2. What happens when you try to use a teleport to friend consumable?

You click ur friends profile pic (2nd mouse button) when in a party with them and tell you then you teleport to their instance world or something like that.

Hopefully that’s the reason 🤞

The only possibility I can see is the second one only because I had a friend that did the same. She did not let the game fully download and hit the 'Play Now' button and the 'Join Instance' button did not show up for either of us. So she had to log off and complete the download.

I suppose the easiest way to check is through the WvW panel (by default the B key). If it is unavailable to either you or your friend (Eternal Battle Grounds and the 3 Borderlands maps), the download is not complete. Or log off and open the launcher and see if it starts a download.

Are you guys same world, example I’m in sea of sorrows, you guest yourself to their world by being on the main menu when selecting a character there’s options about worlds rating populations

In PvE, the only thing that matters is if you are US or EU as PvE is MegaServers based. SoS is US based and you can be playing with a friend that is on Anvil Rock and another friend that is on Gate of Madness with no issue. If you have a friend that is on an EU server though, that is where it isn't possible to play with them.
