Many find it boring though, but the gold is very good
20-30 g an hour
It's RNG
So sometimes less, sometimes more
But usually it's like +20g an hour pretty consistantly
It's also a method where you see the gold instantly in from of the ambergris
When doing META's and stuff it's usually spread across many currencies
I really like it
It's nice to do while watching some youtube
I've been rotating between fishing and rift hunting
Tier 3 rift hunting can get you those kryptis things tat sells for 7-11 g (they seem to go up and down a lot)
Also RNG
It's also good for karma and spirit shards. And spirit shards is ofc also gold if converted
But I mostly do this for the legendary currency and spirit shards.
But when doing tier 3 rifts it can also be really profitable
But that's just what I mostly do atm
META events and tier 4 fractals are probably some of the most popular from of gold farming
I mostly just do META's when I'm after certain currencies that drops at certain META's
Wizard vault also very good gold, but that's one time per season
Find something you find fun to do
Also check out fast farming website
They have a lot of info on gold farming
Ectos, T5 trophies, etc.
No honestly, unless you’re unemployed or working with a currency that has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ rates against the USD or EUR there’s no point in farming 20-30g an hour instead of just using that time to do real work which buys you 400g/hr.
Farming in this game is simply not fun and there are only a few big ticket mats where you actually gain nothing long-term by selling them, because you will farm to buy them back later.
Instructions not clear, mowing neighbors carpet... They asked for compensation for damages.
People still buy those?
Odd, since there's a vendor in WvW now that sells cheap stat selectable exotics
Guess many just aren't aware
I live in a country where our currency is about 20 to 1 and this game might as well dead to me. 66 GB install on my drive, and all everyone does are Fractals and some Meta events to get like a few pieces of gold. It is all everyone does. There is no enjoying the game, the maps and stuff like that. I got good at playing alone but its no fun and I am not in the mood to grind the same maps/events/fractals 24/7 356 just because I can't afford the cool stuff.
I don't even blame players for AFK farming. I don't even know what they get out of it. But chances are it is because everything is beyond hard mode. The time investment is so high and the reward so little that I don't play anymore. Is legendary weapons even worth it? Will it actually do something other then what I already have? I don't think anyone is asking for easy mode when it comes to gold and or the economy. But at least make it worth it because right now it is not worth it.
You don't just get a few pieces of gold from doing meta events/fractals
And this isn't the only thing there is to do in GW2 either
You are not rewarded in raw gold mostly in GW2
You are mostly rewarded in materials and currencies
You probably have a lot more gold than you are aware of sitting in your material storage etc
Guild Wars 2 is mostly about horizontal progression
Upgrade your masteries, get your achievement score up
Long term goals like legendaries
But it's never really about the rewards in these kind of games if you ask me
That's just an illusion
I've found what I really enjoy is the social aspect + the longterm goals
The goal itself isn't really anything special
That shiny legendary, you will think "oh cool" when you get it for 5 minutes. But it's really about the journey towards the goal.
You can make an argument towards why vertical progression games are completely pointless too. Since your progress gets reset all the time.
Legendary items in Guild Wars 2 does give meaningful benefits though, in terms of quality of life. And won't get reset next expansion.
So I do some daily casual stuff.. small things that quickly add up over time and I find it quite profitable.
The bulk of which you can replicate by watching this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzfOMr0AWFU
I do most of those things every day.
On a Character with Guild Hall Gathering bonus buff.
Full home farm.
I have my own complete home instance but it's apparently not hard to find a group for it.
I personally grow Sage in my 3 crop plots, this alone is about 40-50 silver per day.
Guild Hall Farm.
I'm only in 2 guilds and both are maxed so I can only farm 1 hall per day.
I deposit all materials from these daily tasks and I sell whatever I have capped out in my storage.
Mussel/Flax farm.
After home and guildhall I use the same character and head over to Verdant Brink's first waypoint. (Shipwreck Peak Waypoint)
From there I head down into the nearby trench with water where Mussels spawn, as well as pocket Raptors.
I grab all the mussel nodes following the path as well as any wood and metal on the way as I make my way north towards Jaka Itzel Waypoint.
From there I drop down and gather the large batch of Flax nodes.
Mussels have a chance to drop Mother of Pearl as well as Freshwater Pearl items.
Mothers are worth 30 silver each and Freshwater Pearls between 90 silver to over 1 gold.
I sell those and deposit everything else, if anything is capped out I sell that too.
Other characters.
I have characters parked in all the locations mentioned in the video as well as one parked in the Tomb of Primeval Kings, lots of free chests there per day as well as some random material node spawns.
And a second character in Skywatch Archipelago near Kestrel's Vow Waypoint for 2 additional large chests per day, a fox chest under a rock and a chance of 2 small ones per day, along with a guaranteed large ori node.
First chest is east near the waypoint up on the wooden housing, second as well as the rock chest is way up in the sky where Vass's Compassion POI is and the large ori node is on a nearby lower landmass to this POI.
The 2 smaller chests can spawn on this landmass as well as on a cliff above the POI, follow the floating magic trail to find one of the spawn points.
I stockpile my Eternal Ice Shards until my material bank is full (1250) and trade them in for trophy boxes via the method in the video.
This usually costs me between 24-35 gold depending on RNG luck with the Volatile Magic.
When I open the boxes I either sell everything which always results in a nice profit.
Or if I have any legendary projects going on, I sell mostly the materials I don't need or already have enough of and make as much money back as I can, usually breaking even and then I keep the rest of the materials.
I try to complete all of my daily, weekly and special objectives as well to maximise Astral Acclaim income.. I exclusively do PVE only ones at this point.
This isn't always possible and sometimes I get a little lazy when I really can't be bothered to do things like Raids or Strike Missions but I still try to get as many of them done as I can.
Once I've bought everything of interest to me in the Wizards Vault, I spend the rest of my Astral on gold.
This is straight up easy money even playing casually every day.
Items in the Vault that I ignore.
Black Lion Mastery Coffers.
Since the vendor sale value of these was nerfed they're not worth buying.
Essence of Luck.
Abundant in the game, don't waste Astral on these.
Large Crafting Bags (infinite supply)
Not worth the 40 Astral cost, and the provide extremely common materials anyway.
Obsidian Shards.
Again not worth the 50 Astral cost, these are also extremely easy to get by playing.
Revive Orbs.
95 Astral is a steep price to pay for a nearly useless item.. if you die just waypoint revive yourself.
I've had almost 100 of these for almost a decade, I practically never use them nor need to.
Don't waste precious Astral on these items.
Tome of Knowledge.
Despite being cheap these items are again abundant in the game, especially if you play WvW.
Don't waste Astral on them, you can easily horde these items over time, I have over 700 of them clogging up my bank atm and no reason to use them.
Transmutation Charge.
This one is more of an up to you, and they are cheap.
But you can get these completing maps and achievements etc, they are very common tbh and not really worth buying imo.
I have hundreds of them piled up from years of playing the game casually and once you get legendary gear all transmutations on those legendary items will be free anyway.
Special case Item.
Lesser Essence of Gold.. +1% permanent gold find.
This item does not have much value at all, and it costs a whopping 1000 Astral Acclaim, 2000 per season if you buy both.
Gold find only affects killed enemies, the random drops of cash you get sometimes after killing something.
This can actually add up to a point where you can get a nice bit of extra RNG silver from these drops BUT!! and that's a big BUT!! only long time players with high achievement points will ever see any actual benefit from this at all... and even then it will be minor.
It it absolutely recommended that most players do NOT!! buy these Essences of Gold.. and even among longtime players it's a contested subject.
I personally do buy them, I've been playing this game since launch and I am in the high achievement range.. so I do already have a very high Gold Find stat anyway.
But I also agree that it would be far more profitable to spend that 2000 Astral Per season on raw Gold instead as well.. so I don't recommend anyone buy these items, not unless like me you are interested in trying to get your account gold find as high as possible and you don't really care or need the extra gold you could have gotten for that extra 2000 Astral anyway.
I been playing this since it's release even got the physical box discs but to this day I always suffered from terrible economy. There isn't any reliable source to farm silver nor gold.
Nah you're never forced to gamble on the TP and I'd never advise anyone to try that unless they had a serious understanding of how the market actually works.. which to be fair the vast majority of people do not, myself included.
Casual daily tasks is by far the easiest way of making gold like my previous post details, but if your willing to actually farm then doing daily fractals/strikes and weekly raiding is a massive gold maker.
Legendaries are are only worth going after if you actually want them, you'll never need them.
Since the armoury system was introduced though, the ability to use your legends on every character without having to swap them around manually has made them an extremely good convenience item.
I never cared for legends in the past but i've made a bunch since the armoury came into the game, it's made them significantly more worthwhile to get.
Expansions mainly at this point, which you do have to pay for.
But most of the living world content is on the gemstore and requires gems, that's correct.
Though with the ability to buy gems with gold you'll never have to pay any real money for any of the living world chapters.
I'd recommend doing that over paying real money for them, it'll take some time but it'll be worth it.
All new content at this point is coming in paid expansions though, there's no plans to do more living world.
Playing on and off I take it.. if you don't have all of the living world.
When living world chapters came out they were given to all active players for free.
Or could be you didn't invest in expansions at the time.
Living world that came after expansions always required the previous expansion to play, though I am not 100% sure if you could still unlock it by playing at the time..
If you were active but just didn't buy the expansions then there maybe a chance that buying the expansions now would give you access to the living world you were active for at the time..
I can't promise that though.. I have not looked into how that worked for that situation.
You should check out the video I linked in my previous post though that does have some easy passive gold farming methods that I use personally.
Though some of it may require content you may or may not currently own.
The market works through simple supply and demand. Supply is high for most stuff. Demand only comes through material sinks, typically in the form of legendaries. Legendary rune, for example, required lots of stuff salvaged stuff; thus the cost of salvageables went through the roof.
Funnily enough, i got bored of holding the thousands of unID gear i'd hoarded over the years and sold it all a few weeks before the rush for the leg rune rocketed the unID gear prices. Lesson learned there: sit on it till your get haemorrhoids.
I'm not talking about the simple stuff, basic market concepts like supply and demand, anyone can understand that.
I'm talking about actually playing the market, constantly knowing and predicting trends and intentionally manipulating it etc.. only a handful of players are able to do this successfully, especially the intentional manipulation which i'm pretty sure you can get banned for if caught.
They've made it clear time and again that T5 and T6 materials are their only focus for the economy. Every time a new shiny comes out it eats ridiculous amounts of them. Those same items are accrued in massive numbers by the playerbase. It means when the shiny comes out, supply drops, demand peaks, and prices get stupid.
All you have to do is hoard them, wait a few months, then sell. Sites like GWTP make it hilariously easy because they show all this data, including total supply (sell orders) and total demand (buy orders).
