NCSoft corrected the statement in an update:
"Guild Wars 3 is still under consideration, and the start of development has not been finalized."

It's been everyone's guess since the shameful attempts to, once again, hire for a "secret project", while simultaneously cutting development on GW2, so it's nice to have their parent company scupper them with confirmation. What's funny is that they're still trying to dodge it.

Unfortunately, based on the direction GW2 has gone since launch the atmosphere will likely be watered down and even more lame and woke. The writing has taken a massive hit since launch. For example, demons are no longer bad they are just misunderstood. The Charr go from "we killed our gods" in the prologue to the corny "we can all be best friends if we believe in friendship" attitude they now have. Compare the way nation conflict is handled between Guild Wars 1 and the later parts of Guild Wars 2. Everyone is now is a ball of rainbow light walking around in Guild Wars 2 because of cosmetic bloat and thematic dilution. Still love Guild Wars 2, but I genuinely don't want to see what the current devs would create from the ground up. All of the best creators that built this IP have moved on.

You aren't wrong. I still like the game but the writing, the characters and the story overall is a joke. Who writes this ♥♥♥♥? Is it written for people who get triggered from literally anything? Sure feels like it.

You aren't wrong. I still like the game but the writing, the characters and the story overall is a joke. Who writes this ♥♥♥♥? Is it written for people who get triggered from literally anything? Sure feels like it.

we had a woke thread not long ago being erased, gw2 was already DEI inclusive, diverse, with representation etc long before the 2015 boom and present day but if you feel that the "message" is being pushed here you haven't seen anything yet, other titles are literally propaganda, maybe korean overlords aka NCsoft wont allow it, koreans and japanese don't like western agenda in games but it's slowly changing, square endorsed a DEI game and japan kinda wants juicy ESG $$$ and the localization work has become top priority.

Sounds like it is still in early discovery phase where only a few core devs, probably engine devs are working on it, a writer to scope out some story, and an artist to make pictures and presentations.

check out "Light No Fire" from hello games on steam.....trailer is awesome, looks like a better gw2 and it will be out soon.

Why reply to me? I didn't write the woke thing.

Saying the game is written the way expecting the player to be inside a bubble wrap. Same as Starfield. Most of the more "colourful themes" are left over from early life of the game.

Will be probably years and years, prolly like 3-5 if have to guess if the project even properly started yet outside ground work and planning stages and building the team(s).

But will be excited to get a modern GW game when it comes out, will for sure play it then. ^^

I'd even take modernized version of GW2 if they would just convert all the databases into a modern engine. But also no problem to start over. If it has as fun open world modes (both pve and wvw), then i am happy. Of course they need a lot of content at start already, or games have shown to "die" rather fast. Enough games lately have launched with poor endgame and slowly faded. Or fast in some cases lol.

As an official GW2 fangirl, the more i get GW ip products the better. :D Still see myself easily playing GW2 for years to come. And FF14. And other stuff on the side too. Good to have several games to play. :)

Hope they make some proper statement about this though if not done already? The shareholder thingy was lame way to get this public accidentally. X)

If they do #3, I want to remove all jumping puzzles, the guy who made those should be locked up. - Or make them optional.

Blizzard couldn't make a MOBA worthy of competing with LoL and Dota, so anet better not even think about it lmao.
