Worth getting into?
I have not played GW2 yet. I have played ESO, Runescape, FFXIV. Is this MMO worth starting playing anew?

If you like a more casual MMO experience then yes, it's worth it to try out GW2.
yep, totally worth it, it's probably the MMO that respects your time the most and totally chill
I started with the Steam release in 2022, played more than a thousand hours already

Depends on what you want from the game.

GW2 is a good game for chill farming, doing achievements like ‘collect everything of X’ and designing your character (=fashion).

If you’re looking for competitive (god I hate this word) raiding or small-scale content like WoWs Mythic Dungeons then WoW or FFXIV may be better choices.

GW2 does kinda have content like that, but frankly, nobody really cares about it and compared to the big names it feels like a Wish version.

The biggest plus side is that you’re not bound by a subscription and there’s no real gear race so you can just pop in and out doing breaks whenever you feel like it.

There’s also no real need to communicate with other people if you don’t feel like doing it.

I tried the free trial last year and the amount of content you get from that is staggering. I instantly got hooked. I would start there, and see for yourself if it's worth investing your time and money in.

Prior to gw2, I had played FF14 and SWTOR. The subscription based model made me feel guilty when I wasn't playing and that kinda turned me off. This is a pay once and play as you feel like and I think that's what's kept me coming back. I've taken breaks from gw2 when other games released and honestly I didn't feel like a missed a beat.

Hih same, i tried the free trial, but ended up feeling so good about it during my 1st day already that did buy the DLC packs same day. ^^ I was invited to a guild in my first day and it had really nice people ready to show and teach me all stuff and helped me with my silly questions.

It's actually really nice that no subscription, AND can actually once has gone full account (buying any DLC once) can just convert in game gold to Gems and get stuff free from the cash store, it's so cool function. Can get all the QoL stuff that normally costs money in other games totally free, i have gotten all bag space, bank tabs and storages etc by just playing the game and collecting gold. :) And also every week i buy some cool particle effect wings or cool gear cosmetics from the store also, for free. :UDG_Heart:

just started played a bit and nothing really worth mentioning just a ghost on the server, quests are confusing i dont see a direct path where to go and do, i really dont understand the appeal probably great if you have friends that play but the solo experience sucks.

Just so you are aware, every new story chapter unlocks every 10 levels (level 10,20,30,etc). So in between each chapter, exploring the world is highly recommend as it gains you a lot of XP. The Hearts you see on maps are more like local side quests that contribute to map completions. Map completions net you a great deal of XP. There is also a Player Guide under achievements that drastically aid with XP gain as well.

For me it was the exact opposite, i loved the feeling of freedom on what to do, and i enjoyed the leveling, doing random events while exploring all the different races low level zones (it's nice that the scaling making it so that can keep leveling on zones even when gets "overleveled" on them, so doing 100% completion on other races starting zones and areas felt good and kept leveling fast, then always story when did hit that every 10 levels, soon i was already at max when did go to the end of story chapter of core Tyria.

Yes, i joined a cool guild with fun people on my 1st day of playing Guild Wars 2, they took me into any stuff my low level character could do, like low level world bosses etc. And i got addicted fast to the game.

Yes, the GW2 leveling/new player experience is a bit different from some games, i also play FF14 and that game is 110% on railroad, like it kinda forces you to progress in very certain way through the game, from talk to npc to talking to next npc, then talking to next one, or you cannot unlock a dungeon that then unlocks the next story where you watch a 15 minutes cutscene, then go talk to the next dude. In GW2 dungeons/raids are optional content for example. It's like a sandbox mmo with fun events, the open world gameplay is it's strongest thing IMHO. Well, i spend a lot in WvW mode personally, but PVE open world and freedom of playing and doing whatever is exactly the best part of the game.

But yes, if has been used to more "hand heldy" mmo games, like FF14 or WoW, then yes - the start can feel confusing because there is not so much normal "questing structure", but the actual world is your playground and leveling happens while playing naturally and doing the fun stuff, not just running and talking from npc to another npc for 1 day until can change zone like in FF14. I love the instanced raiding of FF14 though, but now that i have played GW2 for over a year.. i must admit - i like this way of open world playing more. Yes, i said it. I think i have become an actual GW2 fangirl over FF14, but FF14 still is my favorite what comes to instanced raids. Don't think any game can take that away from it for me. ^^

I've played all the ones you've listed, and I certainly recommend this one as well. It's got a strong amount of content for PvE and the PvP is surprisingly interesting. But I would be lying if I said it doesn't offer more of a solo-friendly experience for players who are starting out without a guild. Having a guild is highly recommended, otherwise you'll be just exploring and questing solo most of the time :)

I've played gw2 for almost 5k hours (off steam) I keep comming back to this game because it feels super chill and social. Not social in a way like you talk with alot of players but more social as in like ur free to do what u want go wherever . anything contributes towards something of your character. It's casual but you can nolife it for sure

If you like the idea behind getting best gear once and never grind for it again then yes, this game is perfect for you. Gear you got - for example - 5 years ago is still as valid as then.
If you are into fashiion (skins) then this is THE perfect mmo for this. Majority of end game is fashion.
If you like flying in your games - like me - than I don't now any better flying mechanic in mmo than gryphon's in this one. Griffon flying is practically separate game mode at this point.
