Victory or Death
...didn't crash for me yet, just wanted to note that it's by far the worst encounter (never mind final dungeon) I've ever played in any game. Mechanically has nothing to do with the rest of the game, incredibly boring to wait through, and when there IS something to do its pace is far too heavily affected by luck. I uninstalled after realising that leaving the instance completely resets progress, even though there are waypoints inside it. Absolutely miserable experience.

Yupe, a pretty terrible final story quest for the base game. Luckily it's truely the worst of the whole game and it gets way better with the expansion story missions, and even the Living World story missions are already way better. Sometimes I really wish that they maybe would try to improve that mission at some point ... but I guess it's not that important, since you won't replay that mission very often. It really shows that back when they initially made their game they were way worse in making a proper boss fight ...

Yeah that thing is just awful. And you almost have to bring a friend to prevent crashes.

My first experience in that dungeon was rather overwhelming back in the day.
I remember that we died many times, people either quitting or diconnecting, I was basically stuck at that last step.
Luckily, someone with experience helped us out for 5 Gold.

Welcome to finding out that the 11 year old content is .. dated.
Dungeons in general are just that, abandoned content you basically run to get runes and the "free" s.k.i.n.s. (WTF is that getting censored?!?).
It was left rotting IRC about the 2nd year after launch in favor of Fractals.
A much tighter and less time consuming experience.

"dated" makes it sound like it would have been adequate at the time, and perhaps it was in the original group format.
XIV fully overhauled Praetorium under comparable circumstances after a similar length of time, and its problems weren't as bad as these. I doubt they even tested it with the kinds of build a new player is likely to organically have at that point in the progression.

It was always terrible, very poorly designed.

Didn't they split it into 2 quests (the source of Orr and victory or death) in 2015? If some of these complaints are based on experience before that I don't think they're necessarily still valid. I've done it a few times (last year) and I dont think I recall problems, maybe once. I think one time I restarted because i died a lot trying to kill the mouth of zaitan, and after reading the wiki and restarting I didn't have to redo the parts up to getting into the helicopter, but I might be remembering wrong.

It would seem pretty trivial to put checkpoints for restart before and after the mouth of zaitan part and between the 3 dragons and zaitan.

On the other hand, it is titled "victory or death", so an all-or-nothing experience would be valid, if more difficult.

I love how everyone here is just agreeing with the original person who posted. And so am I. I agree with everyone else. so much build up to spamming the 1 key and watching a cutscene.

Yet here your crew is day after day hate spamming and not contributing anything worthwhile?
Must be pretty awesome game after all, if it can trigger some people so consistently..

is it the one with the airship and the turkey shoot ?
the bosses on the ground are easy , when the belleh-mouth drop some bombs : feed them back , it stuns him and then you can deal damage , after that its a real cakewalk

In a no-sub game there’s no incentive for them to go back and fix old content over just adding new dopamine-fast food and other ways to make people buy gems.

no incentive? thats just silly. but their analysts prolly told them, that it would be futile
to invest so much in niche content, that very few people want to play.
let that sink in. they could had made it into a strike, but even that is too expensive.
