And the graphics are als still somewhat decent. Espcially compared to a game like WoW. And as long as you ignore the most competitive game modes the community is quite friendly, since the game is mostly focused on Cooperation.
Though one thing worth noting is that this game has Vertical Progression, meaning once you reach the max lvl, which happens somewhat quickly, it is easy to get nearly best in slot gear (exotic gear) and it also won't take that extremely long to get the actual best gear, which is only slightly stronger (ascended gear) at which point your power level won't really change anymore, expansions also usually don't directly make you stronger, the best gear and may level always stays the same. So if you like to always try to get better and stronger gear this migh tnot be for you, GW2 is more built on getting better with your class and build, aka it more focuses on your Skill rather than your equipment, which is expected to be nearly the best anyways.
Which means that for you to enjoy the game, you must consider it as fun to do .... literally anything else. for example you can try to farm for legendary equipment, which has the same stats as ascended gear, but has some QoL advantages, like being able to freely switch its stats, or allow different characters to equip the same legendaries at the same time. Or you might enjoy playing the story, exploring the world, hunting for achievemens, collecting skins, playing competitive modes like PvP or WvW, trying out the hardest PvE modes like Raids or Challenge Modes, or simpler stuff like beating up World Bosses or completing Meta Events or even completing Jumping Puzzles.
The game gives you the freedom to do whatever you want to do, and this can cause some players to feel a little bit lost. But on the other hand it won't force you to do anything you don't like to do. So I guess ... just try out the free base game and see if you enjoy the game enough?
another point is that each xpac / living season contribute something to the overall story and game mechanics (like new sub-classes)
then there are masteries , these unlock passives for the whole account like gliding , mounts or the mini helper called jade bot with their respective mastery skill trees (sort of)
For anyone still on the fence, https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Guild+Wars+2+2024 brings up a lot of relevant videos.
It's free, it's casual, and it's a game where you grind whatever you want to grind. The biggest complaint people have is that the game gives you less direction than a sandbox, and you'll want to spend a lot of time researching the game either through the menus, by asking other people, or from external sources.
It's a lot to sink your teeth into. It's always giving you more to sink your teeth into. And it's pretty tasty stuff, too. I've gotten into fishing a few days back, and am currently grinding out the glowing fishing rod. Because I can. And I don't feel like I'm losing value for not playing during some subscription plan like I do with other MMOs.

- for example.
Tons of guides to help you through crafting, events, dungeons, raids. The community's not a massive tumour either, I've used many an involuntary individual as a proto-wiki, really helpful and friendly. Most times. Sour apples aren't common at all, you'll have a blast.
I have a problem with FOMO, and when the log in rewards switched to wizards vault I had a problem with doing what I wanted to do instead of chasing astral acclaim. For me the astral acclaim rewards were too good to miss and I am a below average player so they were not fast.
Again this is on me. This is a great game, but I had to quit for my peace of mind.
