Why would a new player step into open world PvP with no mount, gear or skills and instantly get farmed? They would most likely use the p2w options available on the store instead.
It's just an example but what you are saying is exactly why its a trap for new player. New players thinks the alternative is way harder but skill point is so easily obtainable you have to be either incredibly rich, incredibly bad at this game, or new to the point you have 0 concept on how to obtain skill points to believe buying it with gem is worth it.
Same argument can be made about new players: What are you doing that needs that much points in the first place?
When I started this game 3 month ago after getting my first lvl 80 I would have thought this was a good item because the first thing I wanted to do is unlock my elite specialization. Now after playing for awhile I can see this is an absolute waste of money. Unless you got whale level money there are so many more things you could be buying with far higher value both in the short and long term on the store.
You get enough skill point at max level for all base skills without finding a single skill point on the map. You should be actively looking for those skill points in the first place especially if its your first time playing.
It is incredibly easy to obtain skill point in this game that the only people that would think this has any actual values are those who don't have a good grasp on this game.
"PvP with no mount, gear or skills and instantly get farmed?"
First of all its WvW. you will never get anywhere in WvW if you dont bother taking that first step. There is no world where you can go into WvW fully prepared. You need time and experience in WvW to get better. Even on lower level you're scaled that its not a completely unfair fight and in WvW you're realistically are fighting with your teammate with you.
Gear and level are synced to level 80 with gear based on the gear's rarity, and you will get "farmed" when you first play WvW. That is literally how 99% of us when we first start WvW. Even if you're walking in with a full set of ascended and looked up an optimal WvW build you're going to get killed repeatedly without combat experience. Anyone who bought an expansion also have at least 1 lvl 80 booster which gives you a full set of upgraded celestial, relic and skill points to unlock all the base game skills. You can just go into WvW, look for your factions zerg, tag every downed player and you're already contribution the same amount as majority of the WvW players. You can easily get the rest of the skills points from just standing around half the time in WvW. Half the time I just run into enemy crowd pressing 1 with my great sword and doing nothing the other half the time and I can easily walk out of WvW with enough heroics to unlock several specs in a single day.
If you're intimidated by PvP or WvW content then don't do them. Use those extra time to just unlock those hero points on the map. It's still faster and more time effective than trying to buy an overpriced skill scroll.
Even from a gold to gem conversion ratio the time you spend getting enough gold for 1 of those scrolls is enough for a player to unlock way more in that time period. It costs 19 gold and 55 silver right now. I barely had that much gold when I got my first level 80. Lets just say you're really farming it up and get that much gold in an hour. You can walk into the first map of PoF and you're already short distance away from 3 hero point locations you can grab 30 points extremely early.
...... I typically ignore his replies, but this is just...... a whole new level of..... baffling level of....
Forget it. I'll just continue to laugh at this reply. It cannot be taken seriously. I don't think anyone could.
Base skills meaning no points for specializations without farming hp points in the expansion zones. Are you suggesting new people should just stick with core specs? If not, p2w option has already been added so they can buy them.
Or you know, they don't grind the gold and they don't grind the hps. They can buy gold and hp points directly from the store as intended. P2W is a telltale sign the game is struggling.
I win.
Are they really? Why does GW2 has only 4k players on Steam? Why the content droughts? Big three is way out of your reach
Lol the irony of this is so delicious. You can google why that question is perceived that way and the meaning behind it by hundreds of different people explaining one by one.
But "YOU" have not answered that question. so...could you?
I don't want to hear what other people say, I want to hear your answer to that question, since you use it as a point so often.
Oh, so wanted to let you know, I'm in game right now, just sitting around, if you know, you want to come in and show me the proper way to play, or what I'm doing wrong, you being so great and all. Seriously, I'm in Rata Sum, come and say hi. :) You can also show me all those great stats and stuff, and I have ARCDPS installed, we can team up and you can show me that great DPS you do. :) Really, I want to learn. I love this game and always want to learn things to make it more enjoyable. :)
I actually agree for the most part. New players shouldn't buy the HP, instead they should at least go through the game once as intended, get everything for your first character as the game was meant to be played.
After that, who cares if they buy the HP in the store for other characters or not?
As for anyone really buying it, if they are an adult, and are making the decision to buy HP rather than go through other means, it's their choice, and not our concern.
As for it being P2W as people keep calling it, there has to actually be something to win. winning implies competition, in PvE, there is no competition with other players, in fact, the game encourages players to team up and work together, as it actually increases the rewards for each person (example, the various world bosses. The more people that participate, the beter the rewards for all.
As for WvW and PvP, anyone who has played the game, and played those modes, knows that getting HP in any way, means nothing. It has no effect on either system, especially PvP. since everyone who joins it is automatically converted to a maxed out lvl 80 character with the ability to set all your stats and skills and abilities as you wish, customize and upgrade armour, etc. everyone has the same options, it then becomes a game of skill and how you play.
I don't play a lot of WvW, other than for getting things needed for legendaries, but from what I've seen, noon has had an issue with someone of any lvl joining the group for attacking the opposing teams. An extra player is an extra player, regardless of what their lvl is or what thier armour and stats are.
