No reason to implement something that makes the world feel less alive
Alllthough I doubht enough will purchase it, that it will have too big of an impact
Other than what I just mentioned, not much reason else to care if someone pays to unlock their hero points
Can't really call it a scam
No one is forced to buy it
It's pretty easy to earn enough hero points
regarding price its 50 gems for 1 unlock, and its at random in expansion areas that you own. but yes over priced, but unfortunately this is just the start
Waypoint unlock and level boost is already a thing
So not really anything that new to see here
Exactly. I think anyone freaking out over this is insane. Just like there are people that would rather pay than level their character, or who would rather pay for a legendary than make it themselves, or would rather pay for *anything* in the gem store rather than grind for gold to convert to gems for it, there are people who would rather pay than do hero point trains. Other games like FF14 even have paid story skips, for people who would rather pay than do the story; there is a market for services like these.
It takes like an hour to start earning hero points, and anyone who has started doing that knows how easy they are to get, and anyone who hasn't got there yet is almost certainly not randomly buying boosts they don't understand on the store (and if they are, there is only one person to blame). I doubt anyone is going to be scammed over this, and it offers whales with more money than time ways to get their alts ready. No normal player should ever use it, but its there for the exceptional circumstances that want it.
We'll never know just how in progress things were when it happened. But the lack of content in Cantha really showed something was wrong.
Not only that, everyone also sweepes the February 2023 layoffs under the rug as well. Funny how it came directly after "the most successful year in game's history". Following such an ambitious statement came the sales reports proving the exact opposite. Latest reports are even worse exposing SoTo failure.
Now the fans have no place to turn to and they are trying to bend facts and philosophize with word salads to try to cover up the latest blatant P2W that's been added to the game. They default back to "but, but, you're not winning anything!" or "what is pay to win mean exactly?". So sad but amusing at the same time, witnessing these "what are you winning?" arguments which ironically, prove the p2w that has been injected to this game.
That's a telltale sign of them jumping through flaming hoops to bend every argument away to "hide" the game is p2w. Hide from who? New players? Old ones? You can't hide something that the game itself is proud of showing.
Black Desert is not p2w at all if you think GW2 is not p2w since both games you can purchase or grind for the same thing. Again, very sad to see what this game has become since EoD.
They started IBS as though it was gonna be this big thing...and it culminated in a bunch of repetitive crap DRMs, a mess of an ending to 10 years of trying to make a story out of dragons, and half-arzed "strikes" instead of dungeons/raids.
The slow, painful death is in its final stages with the likes of SoTO.
This is a newb trap set up on purpose.
As others mentioned before, we already had rechargable teleport to friend, lvl 80 booster and waypoint unlock box among other things...
Making drama about hero points is absurd and even laughable considering all the above, in any case lvl 80 booster is much worse than a miserable hero point at gemstore. This is the same exaggerated panic and misinformation we saw during the "mounts adopt license" release in 2017 and the black lion chests revamp and i remember that kind of people preaching "the end is near" yet here we are.
And then the HP trains, requesting help from guildmate or a friend for the easy points in amnoon or any expansion map which count as 5 hp each... it's so easy to adquire hero points that purchasing them is absurd and only makes sense for lazy "whales" with the means to purchase anything but no time to spent in HP hunting which doesn't take that long either.
Thx for the jester!! im still right :)
yep, we saw major layoffs during PoF due to their handling of money.
IBS being cut short and EoD being their "best" financial year followed by further layoffs in 2023.
Keep sweeping it under the rug and it will come back out. As vets we go w/e. As a new player they dont know at WvW currency methods. They dont know about HP Trains.
Next thing is Vistas for sale or POI packs. They had a perfect opportunity to introduce this in a valid way. The Astral Pass. You know one of the new features they are so proud of? But nope lets charge over 10 USD to a new player for 1 elite spec. Quality has dropped since PoF, now we get charged for living words masked as expansions that dont even compare to LSW3/4. Theres no reason why GW2 cant celebrate 2-3 decades of live service updates, but this current model is putting a trash bag on the pedal and jumping out
Don't change the subject, you are just using the classic straw man fallacy, literally this reply of yours is just a massive straw man.
Hero points at gemstore are not that "tragic" neither a reason for such unnecesary dramatic reaction, same type of reaction that some had when we got mount adopt licenses, lvl 80 boosters or even the Wizard's Vault which btw is Amazing!! i literally stopped caring about dailies and then Wizards vault brought something better and more interactive and interesting with pretty nice rewards, ppl in my guilds are actively doing weekly events and dailies and talking about it and before the vault it was just.. old boring dailies that ppl used to do to get a coin and achievement points which you can also get with new system.
Anyways again, this is absurd. No big deal, i think the outrage comes from people who don't know better and before doing research or analyzing the real impact from such features they decide just to complaint without proper constuctive arguments.
nobody changed the subject, but you can return to Reddit now.
