I get that your upset, and as I mentioned in a different post, I'm sorry you are having this experience. I'd be happy to help and see if we can make it better for you.
The reason I say this, well, I described the way it looks to me in the other post, but I will say here, the game runs smooth me, even during world boss fights with a whole crowd of people, and my PC specs are not that new.
If you could, could you share your PC specs, and the settings you use in the game for video? That help in trying to make the game experience better for you, so you can enjoy the game again.
The engine is old yes, compared to latest Unreal Engine 5 games.
Still, looks good enough for me. I play all settings Highest/maxed out in 1440p resolution. Zero lag or performance issues. I can play full graphics in full meta event maps and same for full WvW zerg fights, no issues at all.
I have 2023 generation Ryzen 7 something something X3D and RTX 4070, so like medium tier gaming pc i'd think (since no 4090 haha). But being this year generation made performance really good compared to my previous setup, in many games. :)
If you have issues in situations with lots of people, try lowering your Character Model Limit setting down a bit, not the Character Model Quality, but the Limit (it loads less full characters in high character situations, with million particle effects and stuff, that you would not even notice anyways). You still see your party members etc and other people up to certain point, but not load all 100 people effects.
Even when I did Soo-Won yesterday, I was getting 45fps with everything on max and all those players.
I can't name an MMO that can do that, so it's hard to compare relative performance optimizations.
Try playing more than one single mmo and you will see how poor the graphics and performance in this game are. It's bottom of the barrel especially the shaders and overall details.
What MMO has 60+ map wide player events and gets good performance?
The thing is that 99.9% of the game can be won by holding skill key #1, so Anet has no reason to care that it's terrible.
Wow, both of you in the same thread at the same, almost, time!.. How are you? When are the three of us gonna get together and finally get some proof for all your claims? I'm all excited to see you two in action. :)
This thread, as well as the millions that turn up over the years, are pretty damning evidence are they not?
The claims of your's I am referring to, well there are so many, shall I go back and copy all of our conversations from other topic posts, or just link them all in one long post? 'Cuz I have the time to do so. :)
Ok, everything aside, I would like to address the actual gameplay and performance issues you are having. If that is alright?
You mention "drops in performance". Could you be more specific please? Is it an issue of textures not looking or acting right, like being blurry, or popping in and out?
Is it character models, or enemy or NPC models looking odd, or popping in and out?
Is it stuttering or freezing? Is disconnects?
Basically, I/we need more information, your problems could actually be fixable if we try. :)
I ask, as it runs fine on mine, and in my opinion, looks great. So happy to help you fix your issue and get the game going for ya. :)
ESO. Try 120+ map wide player events. That doesn't even include companions or sorcerer, warden and necromancer pets. 60 fps? 45 fps? I forgot how incredibly amateur the GW2 optimization was. Also achieving it by looking way worse.
"well there are so many" seems like you'll take any excuse to make with the verbosity, eh?
