For the Skycale you need SotO or LW Season 4, while for the Griffon you need PoF. The wiki should easily tell you their unlock conditions. Just be aware of that even though they both can fly, they can't just freely fly around, both have their own types of restrictions. the main differences are that the Skyscale is rather slow but can hover in the air, while the Griffon is more difficult to handle, but is the quickest mount there is (in the air, on the ground it's as slow as the Skyscale) and it is even possible to gain infinite height with it, but it takes a while and requires some skill.

Unless you only have LS4 and not SOTO, you will probably want to get skyscale in SOTO
It's much faster to unlock and the new mastery tree better

Actually they do
But you will have to unlock it to use outside SOTO
I think WOW is also restricted to dragonflight expansion, at least it was

It's not very hard to get
It used to be quite the grind with the old method.
Then that method got made easier, and now it's very easy in SOTO
You can make it even easier if you install blish hud

You sound a bit impatient.
There's a story line/quest attached to it
And you get to ride the skyscale while doing it

I hate grinding, it's why I don't farm in MMO's but I never understood the complaints about Skyscale.. it's not hard to unlock, even the original way.
Just took time with the daily locked crap.

I'd say the new ingame skin for the Skyscale in SoTO is far far worse and grindy than the original Skyscale was to get.. and that's just a skin.
Not even a good skin either.

I got the Skyscale after the Decade's rewards for LW4 came out and the only things II felt was stupid were looking for the eggs and the Charged Quartz farm. The first one has good guides on YT but it still felt like a chore.

On the other hand, Griffon is quite easy to get, but it costs you 250g+

Worst part was the LS4 curency farm, but yes after they introduced seasons of the dragons collection, you can earn the currency as rewards, easily obtained
They also added Icebrood saga
That also made it easier
You can grind Bjora Marches and convert the map currency to season 4 mats

Maybe clumsy, it's not good for stairs or obstacles like rocks, When you come across a rock, the raptor is bad to jump over it and you have to go around it a bit to continue and that is so annoying.

Raptor is far from clumsy imo but yeah vertical obstacles are a weakness for them.
Horizontal obstacles however the Raptor is so so smooth at overcoming them.. more so than even the Jackel.

I long to see a jumping puzzle or race that is fine tuned to the Raptor's jump tbh.
I love doing things with the raptor like jumping off cliffs, landing on tiny rocks or tree branches and then jumping off back onto some platform or something.
Raptor is so good at this especially once the player gets a feel for their leap mechanic.

well they kinda did , in soto you get it temporary to navigate the sky isles just like wow gave us those lizards to traverse the dragon isles (and only there) , the skyscale can be unlocked by doing certain tasks (take around 2 weeks when you doing it non stop)

And in the newest Expansion you can use the Skyscale instantly in the new Maps. And when you fully unlock it, you can use it on EVERY OTHER MAP and are not bound like in WoW
