Our player count tool uses Google Trends as it’s data source. Google Trends is
a tool that analyzes search queries in Google and compares search volume over

exact figure but is useful to determine the amount of attention a game is
receiving over time. As for Guild Wars 2, as of September 04, 2023, the player
count was 215,175. Compared to the previous day, it had a -1.78% decrease.
For the last 7 days, Guild Wars 2’s player count peaked at 219,070 and reached
its floor at 207,670


All of these sites are using 'similar' methods to estimate the number of daily, monthly,
and yearly players. For an exact count of daily players they range from 170k to 500k (with one suggesting 700K daily) The ones quoting peak estimates and lowest estimate average out pretty close. None of these suggest the game is dying. To the contrary, they estimate it's growing. It's still considered a top MMORPG. I'm good (IMHO) with 250k to 375k daily players over the course of a year. I think it's a pretty reasonable number and to quote it's "nothing to sniff at."

I tried to stick to just the daily player numbers, since that seems to be the focus of the
debate here. Why Arena doesn't release their own official numbers? Probably because
they have enuff on their plates without having to throw out statistics that will never
satisfy a large community of Trolls. Trolls who will want to argue every method used,
decimal point, time of year, time of day, latest expansion, and wether or not Biden woke
up with a chub-on this morning if they think it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the true numbers.

And what forums or dart board were these numbers based off of? They're all speculation. Only verifiable numbers are on steam. ANet doesn't release a daily player count and there are 3 different numbers for player base 16 million (ANet), 17 million (not sure from where) and 18.5 million (from mmo population). All these beg the question; what was the criteria? The number from ANet is NA and EU with the beginning of the Asian server before it was sold off, more then likely based off of the number of games sold. MMO population only criteria was... the name gw2? Does it include the Asian servers? So yea, all speculation. Nice try.

Most people who play gw2 did not buy it through steam. I actually don't know anyone who plays it through steam.
