I will delete it to avoid duplication if nobody has answered yet.
I think I can get the time to ressurect a fully defeated player from 40 seconds to 14 seconds by combining Elixer R, Noblesse Oblige, and the Relic of Mercy.
I got my choice of 3 relics and a new equipment slot to put one in.
Going to make 3 equipment configurations and set hot keys exclusively for the purpose of switching relics.
Personal hostility between community members doesn't really add anything to the discussion.
I still haven't tested them, nor do I have the level yet to notice the differences as I'm still a newbie.
Runes come with set bonus stats. Max stack is 6 since there are 6 pieces of armor. Each stack of a set gives you bonus stats associated to it with the 6th one originally also giving you an additional perk.
Runes no longer give you that additional perk. Relics give you that unique perk without the need to have a stack of 6 specific Runes.
For example. Rune of Antitoxin. Helps you improve condi damage you apply and reduce the condi duration that enemies apply to you with the 6th bonus being extra vitality and the additional perk of granting an additional conditional cleanse (if your condi cleanse skill cleanses only 2 conditions, the rune will bump it to 3 conditions) only towards allies with a 5sec cooldown.
That additional perk was removed and you no longer need to have a stack of 6 Antitoxin Runes to have that perk. The Relic of Antitoxin has that perk while you can have Runes that increase your healing output instead.
You can start to see some of the potential.
Yes, and i actually like the system. It has very much potential.
Obviously i hope to see more of Relics released soon, and some that been gone (like most "summon" type effects) hopefully make a comeback in first wave of more relics when it happens.
Many of us like every now and then have our summon/minion builds with max amount of such, and also the gimmicky ones, with less uses, but some still had good use every now and then in niche situations, but still. More options always the better. :)

Ya the Relic system is vastly superior to the old rune system. Good luck though trying to convince a bunch of morons that don't know how to do elementary school math (combinations) to figure out why.
My character now has stronger build for both WvW and overland PVE after the update with rune+relic combo than before. :)
Because could combine my relic of choice with better stats/boon giving combo than what it was before.
Some good Relics been dropping for me from SotO area also. ^^ Literally super good (and could combine exactly with the stats i wanted for my build, and no more poor stats + good 6th bonus relic effect, but good stats and good effect = win)
But i agree on one thing, we need more choices back, like those special runes that summoned something for example.
But if anyone thinks current system is worse, they literally do not just understand how it works yet. Yes, some relics (ex 6th part bonus) have changed, but some are REALLY strong now. Slot relic with your chosen stats from the old rune sets = instantly better combo (more stats that you actually want (power or condi dmg for example instead of vitality), or +% modifier of boon time etc) than what was before even possible.
