How Active Is Everyone?
From early game to end game, how is the playerbase? Is it steady?

End-game stuff isn't as active as in other MMOs, and even large-scale open world "meta events" tend to only achieve one full map (~80 players) at peak time.
Most players are either daily logins completing their 3 dailies, or open qorld solo-ers.

So it's steady but not "very active". The way population works in GW2 is an oddity.

I play daily and see players in all zones. From starter to end game.

I play about 5 days a week. Been at it for five years. Sometimes I'll break for a week or two though.

I play various amounts every day. There are some areas that are less frequented than others but I run into a lot of players even in zones that do not feature the most popular content in the game. Of course, "a lot" can mean different things to different people.

Player population tends to surge when there is a world boss or meta event around. The way map instancing works, however, you might find it difficult to finish these large scale events if you arrive late on the map, ie after the boss fight starts, because you will most probably end up on a copy of the map with only a few players. With a little planning, you will rarely run into a failed meta, though.

Funny, every time I look for any metas or world bosses there is always at least one full instance and a mostly full overflow instance. Never once did I have to worry about peak times, even when I end up playing at 4am lol

Only 3k players on Steam. A large chunk of them are afk farming bots on macros. The "I see people everywhere omgosh isn't it amazing?" crowd are just logging in for dailies and swiping their cards to buy useless skins because Anet has finally caved in and admitted the maintenance mode with 12 month content drought + half Gyala Delves (other half in June) so there is literally nothing going on with this abandoned game. Imagine being excited for having an absurdly low effort half a map for 15 months, most likely even more. So sad. Oh look a fancy skin though :)

So sad what this game has devolved into, especially the quality of the playerbase. Old GW2 vets are currently populating FFXIV, ESO and WoW and they don't talk kindly about GW2 at all, mostly just pity how it died in 2019 and how everyone got milked hard with the fake Canthan expansion. 1/5th of the entire stuff getting fired last month due to low profits, player count was an amusing topic though ;)

I will never understand people who talk about games they no longer entertain in public forums, but thank you for your critical pessimism

guys who think being a pessimistic doom and gloom poster is a desirable personality trait instead of doing literally anything else productive with their time, like playing something they actually like

Drugs are bad.

The game is very much populated and MOST players don't use the steam client. Every zone there are players playing the game and there is always players leading meta's and events. The population is healthy.

This is the main reason I asked. I know that most of the community is native client based and not steam client based.
