Also, crafting is not super important. It can be used to get ascended or legendary euqipment, but legendary is too expensive to think about it for a long time and ascended gear can also be obtained elswhere. And there are a few other small things, but nothing too important. I guess some craft that can only be done once per day could be used to make some money, but it's not that much.
The crafting interface gives you a list of recipes you can craft. Items at your current level are shown in orange, but as you level up, the colours change to yellow, green, blue, white and finally, grey for items that have stopped granting crafting XP.
Also, there is a discovery mechanic, which gives you an XP bonus when it happens. The items that can be combined to discover something look normal, but those that Can't be combined have a red overlay.
As my husband can't see any colours at all, he wouldn't be able to tell the difference between colours.
White is good, and he can see white. So if he follows a crafting guide, it will be no problem, all guides show by level, not colour code.
I would be more concerned about the AoE circles. Even the game sometimes messes up if green is good and red is bad or not. Sometimes white is good and blue is bad? Your green target circle overtop of the big blue hit zone and the one green spot you are supposed to stand to not die instantly.
I have watched a crafting guide on YouTube, which says it might actually be Cheaper to buy a crafted item then to make it yourself! Can anyone confirm that please?
Other than that ... I think the top items of a category are usually the highest level items out of the category? And I would assume that it should be possible to at least notice some difference in colors, but maybe not enough?
You can also add your GW2 API keys and check if you have the required materials or not. It's a really useful website for GW2 players, I suggest you bookmark it and explore some of the features.
But even without colorblindness, a leveling guide for the crafting is recommended so you don't waste too much money on it.
