tho i'd say that the game is going rapidly in the direction of homogenization of the classes.
The game is not to your liking. That's fine. To each their own. I hope you find a game that suits you better.
This is another argument from anecdote fallacy and defective induction which is conclusion that has been made on the basis of weak premises, or one which is not justified by sufficient or unbiased evidence.
What you are experiencing today is the direct result of pandering to the unskilled player crying and boohooing about how hard the game was and that they couldn't survive in a pvp environment. And even in these forums, we have strictly pve babies that cringe and run away crying at the thought of open world pvp in central tyria. Just imagine the bliss and satisfaction of being able to pk that guy who popped the event too soon or killing that player afk bot jacking up the price of materials on the trading post.
Under the direction of Colin Johanson, Josh Davis and Cal Cohen we have some hum dinger "improvements". After upping everyone's ability to drop a million and one conditions (damage over time skills), they decided to address stealth. But not everyone's stealth. Nope. Only the stealth on the class that needs stealth to survive and have a power hit. Josh Davis called it a source of frustrating game play in spvp and wvw. Then they proceeded to give that one particular class, a lesser version of what it already had calling it an "improvement".
So yes. What you are seeing today is the unskilled, same mechanic over and over again, pandering to the snowflake society, that infests the game. At one point GW and GW2 were touted as the WOW killer, which was correct as it all started with 3 developers from WOW. But alas, the regime of snowflakes and pandering enablers have crushed that.
This is exactly how the pve and pvp feels now
But above all, the game attracts players who like what it has to offer. You obviously don't, and that's fine. Find something that is worth your time.
The summer sale is starting next week, maybe you'll find something on sale to play rather than complain on forums that you can't fathom why anyone would play something you personally didn't enjoy
Each MMO of that era from about 10 years ago that survived till today has something special going on and was not a simple WoW clone. And this is a good thing. So today we are in the position to choose the MMORPG that fits our personal preferences the most. That doesn't need to be GW2 - but for me it is.
i would just like the game, which is called a f2p to have some difficult content without me needing to buy £50 worth of dlc, ive played destiny 2 and even before i brought their dlc's i was having a greatly difficult time doing dungeons and missions and such and when i did buy them it unlocked some content i cant even attempt solo (raids), this type of format is what i expected from guild wars 2 but instead its solely centred on the dlc's and their content and the only reason its considered f2p is because it can be loaded into for free (cant really move for free though because of the timed single mount it gives new players to goat them into buying the dlc's just for the access to the mounts and their absolutely amazing movement and some combat ability)
