Is it just me, or is there really no hype for SOTO?

As someone who plays GW2 on and off, every single expansion so far has had its fair share of hype that was easily noticed outside of your usual GW2 circles. But SOTO has just been rather quiet unless you've been bothering with the likes of Twitter and Reddit.

I know that ArenaNet is terrible at marketing, but this is just sad. Even the "Icebrood Saga" had more buzz going on about it.

Let's hope this isn't a bad sign for what the actual expansion will be about.

For me the new expansion with its changes has killed the game.

They have killed the old dailies.
The result for me this morning was that WvW was empty (probably because people didn t have 4 wvw dailies to do anymore).
In Pve I had a Jump puzzle to do, vexa lab, no choice. Here again there was nobody ...

I know now that I won't do new dailies again.
I liked to spent 1 hour of fun every day on the old ones .
Now I wonder if I wanna still play GW without this fun.

They dont kill dailies, they mostly kill daily logins. Altoholics are prolly crying rn because of the changes

It's not about the dailies, most people 100% not do wvw for dailies, but i (as a person who spends 90% of gaming time in WvW) am doing the new expansion content (it unlocks stuff, like weapon mastery, so can use all elite spec weapons on all elite specs of that profession) and opening up the new Masteries and stuff. :)

I saw a lot of the usual WvW guild people i see in WvW there doing same stuff as me.. So give it a few days and people come back in full. :D So massive amount of people i have seen is doing the actual new content. I got most my dailies done by just playing the new content naturally. One was to take Ruins in WvW, that took like a minute, then went back to new map lmao. Need all the new stuff. :P

There is actually a lot of hype on the forums and reddit, just not the good kind, have a listen ;)

I have a feeling there is a lot of cost cutting going on with this expansion. Save on voice lines, light, medium, heavy armor all look the same. A LOT of assets reused, I usually don't have a problem with this, but this time it's so obvious and feels just lazy. The daily system is already criticized enough on this sub. Weaponmaster system, felt, well not very impactful, thought there would be a bit more behind that. I miss the effort in this expansion in every corner.

What part of this tiny LWS update deserves $25 again?

There are less variety, but in no way daily quest is dead. In fact, the daily quest is even more lucrative now.

Personally i nvr find daily quest appealing and most of em are just chores 🤷‍♂️

Turns out the new maps and the closing rifts activity has already bored people on the day of the launch. Have a listen ;)

my active rift is always on the other side. It’s so fun to fly across the map and watch other people close it! Incredible design choice.

Glad I did not buy this, I remember way back when you should never be sad to see another player.

Content in an action game shouldn't involve standing around waiting for 95% of it.

notice the issue of flying clear across the zone only to have to turn around and fly clear across the zone only to have to turn around to fly half-way across the zone and finally get to a rift before it's closed by other players.

Boring on day 1 and will be stuck with it until they add something new in Q2 2024? Sad.

How does that marh work out when you start missing whole days?
Because it sends you in the middle of a zone you never heard of, because you didn't buy the expansion or are not progressed far enough?
I already lost two.

The old Dailies literally revived the F2P maps and generated emergent player gameplay at the jumping puzzles.
EVERYBODY loved Mesmers back then, now they're just the gay pink ones.

The new system is objectively worse and I even don't give a flying hamster about log-in rewards deletion.
Think I'm gona take up @Soulslayer advice and get out of here.

I just got an email about the expansion, have not played this game for ever. End of Dragons was an expansion that personally I did not find particularly exciting so I kinda stopped investing my time in the game. This expansion sounds even more of a wth?? am I reading this right...they just gave classes weapons but there's no actual elite specs??

It's obvious that the game took a "look we're not that invested -like that- anymore" turn.

Anyways I miss looking at my characters gonna log in and see what the "vibe" is...didn't really manage to find a good MMO to replace the game tbh xD. I used to LUUUURV this game!!...why money why!!! WHY YOU GOTTA RUIN EVERYTHING.

I think you hit the problem.
This "expansion" has basically the "content" of an average living world season but at a premium price.
Throwing in the complete weapon unlock because they just don't have the manpower (&likely brainpower) anymore to create another 9 Elite specs and new mount.

Free living world seasons are likely over for good at this point.

P.S. I actually managed to make my first daily today!
Took me almost an hour and it was horrible in the maguuma maps,
as the personal randomness meant I was at the mercy of a general population
instead of the cozy old daily zerg in the current event map.

They are "kind of" trying to gather hype by sponsoring a few twitch streamers but man, it's really hard watching someone who've never played the game starting on some SoTo missions, asking their chat how to play etc. One guy was getting gear in the mail from one of the viewers and tried to drag and drop head gear into outfit tab while saying "oh my, this game is awesome" every 10 seconds. He was constantly praising autoattack from necromancer's scepter.

It's just embarrassing at this point. At least find some streamers who are just a teeny bit interested in the game instead complete strangers. There really is no one left that are playing the game it seems.
