What do you think about the new skyscale aquisition?
To be honest, I´m on the final part of the grind. I had to buy every living world episode with gold and grinded for a fair amount of time to find out I could have waited a little longer and kept my gold... But it does look better for new players to get a easier time with the mount grind tho, but it still feels bad for my timing lol.

No idea, but you get to work early on your Skyscale Masteries.

Well, they say the new method is more streamlined. It doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be any cheaper or any shorter. I suspect it's not going to involve endless collections within collections within collections, but that's about it.

Which it may be similar to how you can currently get the Siege Turtle.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're not going to give up that "premium" mount feel, so I think it's going to be a bit more involved than the turtle, but it's just a guess.

I was just wondering how they are going to fit the acquisition into the narrative moving forward. I liked that all mounts had a part in the story or at least, in the case of the Jackal and the Griffon, have heavy ties to the lore of the region you unlock them in. Then in Cantha, the raptor and the bunny are "just there", without explanation. I hope they do more with the Skyscale this time.

Sort of seems like it will be downgraded version, and you have to do the crazy collections still for the full version?
But honestly I am fine with giving everyone the full version so maps can start taking advantage of it and be designed with flight in mind.
But I also think the skyscale was a mistake (from the start truthfully) and instead it should have been for the griffon so everyone could have a basic flying mount.

I really hope there will be enough "exclusive stuff" (what was mentioned on the website + stuff we might not know about) for those who did it the old way, so nobody feels betrayed, while at the same time it should not lock anyone out of basic functionality, so new players will have it easier to catch up.

I know that a lot of people feel discouraged about the grind before they even start it. So in general it is a good idea.

I just want to know whether there's any reason to get the skyscale the old way. Will we need to do that to unlock the PoF masteries, or will those unlock alongside doing it the new way? If we do the old way, will it save us anything in the new skyscale process and its skin? Do we get any advantage for doing the PoF version first? Will they just retire the old path and its achievements, and make the new expansion the only route?

If we're going to be forced onto skyscales for the new stuff, then I'd just as soon get it over with and start on the masteries, but I'm not looking to just throw a bunch of gold/time down the drain.

Really annoying they make a big announcement like this and won't clarify key things people playing their game obviously will want to know.

They have to justfiy selling a $10 (not even) worth of DLC for $25 somehow. Seems like they lost all creativity as well. Giving away a mount locked behind paywalls and a huge grind seems like an idea that came from a 2 minute team meeting.

Content that you have to buy to access? Say it isn't so...

ANet pandering to the baby boohoos that want it all now. They've been doing it for years. There was a time when I did map completion, 3 times and to do so I had to have all the poi's, vistas and waypoints from wvw and pvp. But the pve baby boohoos cried until ANet pandered to them. Geography can explain it.

From what I gathered from one of the streams covering this, Doing both dragon quests will give you something extra. Maybe making your dragon skills stranger, but I'm not sure. There is only speculation on the masteries right now, but people are saying there will likely be a new dragon masteries set.

Even funnier, Maplestory is a game for baby boohoos and easily beats GW2.

Our favourite troll is so invigorated by the announcements that now he does two volleys of comments a day. Must be hard for him to accept that this game is, indeed, very much alive.

Edited a typo.

The announcements are just the latest fixation. I’m sure they’ll move on in a week or so, just like they did with the whole Reddit thing. So much for that whole nonsense, it must get exhausting being wrong all of the time while having to move from one straw man to the next.

Speculation? The posts showed the new masteries and how they stack with the PoF masteries. They just didn't say anything useful about how having two paths to get the skyscale will interact with each other, and there are a lot of important things we need to know about how that will be handled.

No, they're clearly just milking what they already have to sell. People who don't have skyscales won't buy skyscale skins, and what better way to sell the same elite specs than letting exp buyers unlock the spec weapons without being tied to the spec (which'll still require the other expansions)?
