Right-click on the game and select properties. At the general tab you want to look for a space where you can type in launch options. Enter this line: -provider Portal
After that you are met with the GW2 launcher where you can log in with your old account.
But taking ingame pictures will work in Steam even when old client linked!
The other answer is as others have told you, that you can add a command to launch options to log onto your non-steam account through steam, but that is still an anet account and cannot make purchases through steam.
You can, however, use the Steam version of GW2 to play the game. To do this, go to Steam-GW2 launcher options and add: -provider:Portal
Important thing to remember: do not buy stuff from Steam for Guild Wars 2. If you do, those will be credited to your Steam account, not your ANet account. Your accounts are not linked. ArenaNet is currently not offering any way to link accounts.
