Reaper is a dead class?

I'm new to the game, so I wanted to ask experienced players.
I like the necromancer and two-handed swords, so I chose Reaper

to play.
The only cool thing he has is Reaper's shroud. Reaper's "Shouts" look very weak, and two-handed sword abilities are too slow and many people prefer other weapons.
Is it possible to effectively play PVP and fractals using shouts and a two-handed sword?

Every class can play almost any content. just half the endgame raids needs a bit of real meta, on everything else you dont need to be optimal on anything

That's because it's a frekkin Reaper thread.

I like my GS/Staff Reaper best too.
She was a beast in the Mad King's Labyrinth, soo much fun.

Like Hemi wrote, that power greatsword build is really strong. I can easily solo HoT/PoF HP's on my Reaper, and not all builds can do that.
The AoE is also great with the wells and Reaper's shroud AoE-abilities.
