Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2

So this game still doesn't run at a consistent frame rate
On modern hardware apparently. In the Black Citadel my frame rate was jumping around depending on where I was in it just like it was doing years ago when I last played it. Is it ever going to be fixed?

They're about to move to DX11.

Heard about that, but I thought that was supposed to have happened for the recent expansion pack. Hope it's not much longer. And that it just happens to occur when all the dlc and expansions are on sale. I didn't get it in the last one, due to my frame rate issue.

Not that much longer. They said it would be implemented by mid-April!

LOL Yea, few things about that. Either Dx11 has never ever been used in a mmo before or ANet leadership just isn't smart enough to hire someone who has the talent and knows how to implement it. ANet has also been threatening to implement alliances, to "improve wvw", for 7 years now. Even the steam release was "postponed" for a year. Don't get your hopes up for mid-April nor actually getting it. Implementation of alliances has failed 3 or 4 times now, so has Dx11.
well Dx11 has been available for months now and alliances obviously improves wvw, because allowing people to play with friends is a definite improvement

I hope so. A lot of people experience fps issues on this game. I personally have not but it’s an obvious issue for many people.

I have been playing with the DX11 BETA since it was implemented and the dx12 proxy plugin before that. The performance has definitely improved a lot, but certain camera angles like you mention in Black Citadel or Amnoon City still drop fps, even with a 3080. I dont think they will ever go away completely because of engine limitations. I expect further improvements though.

I've seen plenty of unaddressed complaints about fps drops from DX11. It's always brushed aside as "it'll get better eventually".

AND alliances has NOT been implemented. What's your argument now?
Calm down, kid.

reading comprehension isnt your strong suit, right? I wrote Dx11 is available for months, alliances has been available during many beta weekends, and of course its going to improve wvw you nutjob. Allowing friends to play together without having to pay for server transfers is good.

I've only gotten FPS increases after swapping to DX11 months ago, especially in large group content that was traditionally very laggy. Someone in the thread you linked even said the same thing. It is almost like you can't account for every combination of software and hardware in the world.

My reading comprehension is way better then yours. Dx11 still isn't implemented. It may be there but it still isn't working, is it. And your blatant lie of what you wrote about wvw, well that speaks for itself. And point of fact, the "improvement" for wvw isn't based on friends playing with friends but population differences between servers causing certain servers to always remain in the same tier.

Dx11 is implemented and has been for some time, what they are current doing is slowly removing dx9, until all accounts are on dx11 only.
They before gave you the option to choose, but as it limited what they could improve and add to the game, they have decided to remove dx9.

If yoy haved played any of the WvW betas you know what it does. It is so you can select a guild as your WvW guild and you can then play WvW with anyone that has selected same guild, the guild is then put in an alliance of guilds, so it is more like alliance vs alliance and not world(server) based, but that is only when there is a WvW beta going on, or until they add it fully to the game.

It really depents on what you mean with "Dx11, it's still not fully implemented."

No not all players are force to use it yet.
Are there systems that dont need to be change to dx11? or systems that will need change to dx11, but are not yet?

It'll really fix it completely? Last I remember the issue was pretty crazy. I could drop all my graphics settings to the lowest I could set them to, and I still couldn't get a stable frame rate. The settings literally didn't matter. First, and only game I've played with an issue like that.

They're definitely monkeying around heavily with Dx11 at the moment.
I've been running the "preliminary" Dx11 setting for almost a year now without problems, but suddenly everything is going crazy.
Guess we have to cross our fingers each patch day now, for them to not break even more and actually fix things.

my 3060 runs this fine, what do you mean inconsistent?

Like I'll be running around the Black Citadel, and it just goes up, and down depending on where I am in it. It could go all the way down to 30 in one spot, but be 70 FPS in a different area.
