I want a 2nd account, a steam account, coz i have $$$ in my steam wallet but i want to know how does gw2 steam account works.
The big restriction for Steam users, that many people have a problem with, is that you can only buy Gems in the in-game store through Steam, no other payment methods (Wich could be cheper/more convenient) are allowed for us.
On top of that, there are none of the usual steam goodies like achivements, trading cards and all that. Some people care about all that, don't ask me why.
And again what kind of "display name" you get when you play the steam version? is it your steam account name?
You can log in to your gw2 account with Steam on arena net website. There you can connect your account with twitch.
Display name you will type yourself, when you create characters.
Yeah thx! i don't care for the steam achievements or trading cards, im just concerned about the account creation processs.
No real difference, except with ArenaNET accounts you have to put in a email address and a password, wherein you are launched into the game. STEAM as you know logs you in via your STEAM login details. If you wish to add Guild Wars (one) to your account, you will need to know the name of at least one character, and the login process is exactly the same as with the STEAM client. This name allows for account verification.
As for the account name, the signup process goes like this: PUBLIC DISPLAY NAME: (this is the account name) and the game logs in via STEAM. And that's it! Whatever name you selected, unless it is already taken, is used and a four-digit code is added to it. For example, mine is Belenus.9132 - and I choose that name, but the number was all ArenaNET.
