So best hammer user?
Probably elementalist? Anyone confirm? Just going by the way gw2 does everything backwards.

I mean, if you to wield a smashing-like type of weapon your choices are probably----

Hammer (two-handed)
Guardian
Revenant
Warrior
Scrapper
Untamed
Catalyst

Mace (one-handed)
Guardian
Revenant
Warrior
Mechanist

Right outside of that next in line are probably----

Greatsword (two-handed)
Guardian
Vindicator
Warrior
Ranger
Mesmer
Reaper

Axe (one-handed)
Warrior
Ranger
Firebrand
Necromancer
Mirage
Revenant

I've played all these, but I've never really taken much liking to a huge weapon with the exception of Reaper/Greatsword

I would say Warrior is the most "unga bunga". They have the widest weapon pool, and can swap weapons faster than other classes. Their Beserker elite specialization charges up a beserk state, which allows them to constantly unleash strong attacks with increased stats. You also have Bladesworn, which allows you to do the classic samurai draw to get extremely large damage numbers. Guardian is more defensive/support oriented, and Revanent has to manage its energy, and while both have styles that allow them to be quite aggro, Warrior is more suited to that style.

go engineer -> scrapper!

(or mechanist which is so Op now)

but check from here some scrapper vids:

Guardian/Warrior for GreatSword/Axe smashing. Mech/Deadeye for pew pew. And Soulbeast Longbow / Knife / Axe, because I like it. Thief staff is insane if you want to go all Ninja Norn, big recommend! (though invest in marauder gear and not zerker, caus it's squishy haha) I have a few others, but those are a bit meh for smashing... lol. NORN4LIFE!!

For some reason any Ranger class is for me quintessential NORN!
Greatsword-Long Bow is very nicely unga bunga to me.

Props for crazy Gandalf-Polak reference.

I'm enjoying my warrior but I use rifle for the most part. I plan on going berserker and doing longbow while in berserker mode for the burn damage.

If you like melee you should check out the gunzerker class that uses the gunblade for adrenaline attacks. I'm not much of a melee person myself I like ranged attacks.

My Reaper is pretty unga bunga with it's Greatsword.

spellbreaker with hammer and dagger/axe is an extremely strong and useful build atm

Warrior.

Big hammer smash hard.
Big sword swishswishswish.

Warrior, but not for the weapon skills as many say, which are a bit so-so. It's the "physical" type utilities that do it. You can slot a big kick that bowls guys onto their inferior little butts, a big stomp that just throws everything back like leaves, and a bull rush that, well, is a bull rush. The kick has ammo, so you can do it several times, and you can trait cooldown reduction for the whole set. For extra unga bunga, slot the "rampage" elite where your whole weapon bar becomes even more of the same kind of trash shoveling fun (plus throwing a big rock, because why not throw a big rock).

I'd go spellbreaker instead of berserker. Berserker sounds like the way, but it's just some big guns and a lot of trouble that takes up those precious utility slots. Spellbreaker augments your stomping kit with ripping everything around you just because someone dared to actually swing at you, and you won't get distracted by its utilities because they are so irrelevantly bad ("meditation" type... As if).

Guardian has a great, satisfying hammer ability, but it's just one ability and you get a decent facsimile just with your foot. The rest is just flashy graphics and no oomph.

Ranger is probably notable, with the Unleashed spec and hammer/greatsword, but it's just ok and utilities there are all so boring.

Revenant just doesn't really have that feel.

I think there is a little difference between "feeling unga bunga" (abilities feel and look like slow but big damagae) and "being unga bunga" (actually doing the big numbers). As I am no expert on the latest builds, I will just give my opinion on variant 1:
Warrior (especially Berserker) and Ranger->Untamed feel the most brute for me.
And in general those classes are the most fitting ones for Norn in my opinion. You can also go with guardian or Necro (the shamans).
Haven't played much revenant, so I am not sure about that feeling. As far as I recall, it is just too much magic stuff involved for the right feeling.

Depends on what you want to do. If you enjoy playing a specific class on a specific gamemode just do that. example, If your going raid, I would say Mechanist.

On an additional note: You can go to the PVP lobby quite early after leaving the tutorial area. There you can easily try out all the skills at max level against some training dummies (no actual PvP required) and check if it is the right feeling for you. Just be aware that there are some slight differences in how skills work in PvP and PvE, but for your purposes it should still work out.

Yes, minor differences. As far as looking at how a class basically looks and feels, the PvP lobby and its practice dummies are great to check out and new players should make use of that resource. Numbers and actual power don't matter when you're just seeing how something looks and feels. By the time OP cares about any real differences, they'll have their own knowledge of the game to go on.
