Guild Wars 2

Skyscale....
It's collections after collections to collect with a sort of "no end" and this is just ridiculous. And that for a sort of bird who don't really fly well. Disappointing....

I'm sure someone will come around and say it wasn't bad because they got it in 3 days or so.

I think it took me 3-4 weeks of doing some daily grinds. It gets better after the first group of collections (all those crappy scavenger hunts). But the whole thing is much longer than people think.

Well worth it.

Can you explain what took so long to grind? Because the mats/currencies can all be obtainable with "Return to..." achievements. Charged quartz timegate can be skipped by buying the end product on the trading post. The only thing tedious is the scavenger hunt stuff like op said.

I kind've agree with op, just looking at the number of collections i need to do on guides has me constantly putting this off.

The time gate when the Skyscale was first released was much longer. Some friends that got the Skyscale on release mentioned that they were a little upset that when I got it a few months ago the time gates had been shortened from several days to just a single daily reset between each step.

@OP and others, the wiki shows you where and how to to get literally every piece of each collection. Unless you’re trying to do it the hard way (as in, “by your own wits”) it’s just like like going to the grocery store and running down a shopping list.

Sure.

I did SOME daily grinds.

It's a boring grind so I did a few things each day, then moved on to something I actually enjoy doing. After doing a little of the "Return to..." I said #$%^ that and did a daily lap in Bjora Marches for black ice conversion instead.

"I did it in 3 days" crowd makes people think it's a quick thing. It's closer to watching paint dry or waiting in line at the DMV. The first part is especially dull with all the scavenger hunts, into scavenger hunts, into scavenger hunts. Not hard to burn out.

Honestly I thought beating Soo-Won for the turtle was more difficult than the Skyscale.
But I like most players had 7 years of materials and money sitting around. And a large collection of charged crystals so I blitzed the entire thing like a few days with only a few hours a night with my spouse. We both finished it. She a day early because I was short a few map currencies.
Just like getting the griffon. People balked at 250 gold. We both went... that's pretty cheap for a flying mount. Sitting on several thousand gold and tons of mats to sell if we need more.

I think it's a different experience for everyone. With me it was-----

Worst: Beetle > Griffon > Skyscale > Turtle :Best

-----and that is just what I thought of it and I got them all the week when they first released.

It can be a 3 day thing . If you are doing all the bits which let you skip the grind . Story , achievements give you the currency for instance .

It can also be a 3 day thing if you have the mats from pvp/wvw reward tracks or home instance nodes .

When I was doing it on launch it was 7 days and I did have mats from my home instance nodes .
If you dont have the nodes try finding a guild mate or someone in lfg that offers free home instance . Its worth your time considering all the useful things you can pick up .

But I do get why its a big road block for a lot of casual players .
It is the first time they have to log in and do a thing consecutively and also have resources ready .

Compared to most of the legendary stuff its a joke . Compared to stuff a casual player does it can be a solid brick wall .
Using any of the guides or tips from existing players on shortcuts will make it more manageable . Runing straight ahead with no info will just frustrate people who dont know how to get things or even where to start .

I love these persons making the things "in 3 days" and with the 2 hands in the pocket I guess? I don't believe that ONE second. Already the feeding time takes 3 days minimum and that's after... already... many grinding. Before that, you have something like 40 events to finish, collecting, collecting and collecting.. And.... collecting. Mister "3 days", you helps nobody with your bla bla bla.

From the 'Guild Wars 2' wiki page: The total minimum time needed to unlock the mount is 3 days plus 8 hours.

Although you are correct and have a right to express your opinion/thoughts, be careful what you say. The forum gnomes will complain to the kebbler elves and have you banned because it's a negative assessment of their "the game is full of leprechauns and unicorns" responses.

Translation: "I act like an insufferable ♥♥♥♥ and then complain when people get mad."

Also, not correct. I already linked the wiki page noting how long it takes to get a Skyscale.

I did it in 3 days, including completing all of the LWS4 chapter, as a new player a few weeks ago. It took around 50 hours to do it all, including the story, map currency, etc.

People should be complaining about how boring this is to do, not how long it is. It's not some insane MMO grind, but it's definitely extremely boring and tedious.

Absolutely! And I did it as a veteran who doesn't mind grinds.
