Bought Expansions on Steam But Cannot See in Game
I just splurged and bought the full package on Steam. I've been waiting for this game to come to Steam for months!! However, I do not see the purchase reflected in the game. Should it show up immediately, or is there a time delay?

Do you see the Expansion story unlocked in the story journal? If yes then you are good.

If you don't see a message on the screen saying you're playing on a free account, then it probably worked. Alternatively, see if you can create a revenant as that class is locked behind the expansions

No. They appear on the list but say that I need to purchase the expansions. FYI - I have to go into the Steam folder and open the game using the executable. The game does not start from the Steam icon (shortcut). I do not know if that is pertinent. Also - I cannot create the Revenant class - it is greyed out

That is strange. I would try and reinstall. Seems that steam is glitching some how.

Before steam, it took 3 days for arenanet to recognize you purchased an expansion. Not sure if they adjusted it for Steam.

This is for new accounts and the purchase would not be completed. Until the verification is done. Steam accounts are already verified

I reinstalled the game but it did not fix my issues. I am now uninstalling and reinstalling to the c:\ drive -- prior to this, it was on one of my added drives (D:\). I will see how it works from the new install location. Sigh...

I think I saw some people saying steam login has issues and doesn't work.

Uh-oh. Are you sure you log in through Steam using your Steam display name and NOT by entering email and password? If you start the exe directly, it defaults to an off-Steam account unless you are starting it with a "-provider Steam" option. Without that, you're NOT running through Steam, and are playing on a different account that can't use your purchase.

You are right - I used a login email/password that I created on ArenaNet. Are you saying I should just enter my Steam name (GypsyMoon) in the email line? What about a password?

It looks like it is starting up then simply stops. The whole process takes about 5 seconds. It happens over and over again every time I try to start through Steam. The button on Steam changes from "PLAY" to "X STOP" then goes back to "PLAY" after a few seconds

When I start it from Steam, there's no password field. Sorry, if you created an account on AreaNet, you've definitely been playing on a non-Steam account and won't be able to keep that progress on your paid expansion account, once you can get into it through the Steam version.

Found the issue -- my Norton 360 Firewall prevented the game from initially opening. I turned it off for 15 minutes and now the game works as expected. I now have all expansions available and can play the game normally. Thanks everyone for all your help!!

Ah, over-enthusiastic firewalls, a tale as old as time.
