Guild Wars 2
WoW sub cost is $1800 over 10 years.
Stop complaining about the cost of 10 years of content being $100.

No one is making you buy it all, and if that is too steep for you in a single payment, you can always buy the content as you go over time. Literally no reason to complain. You have the entire core experience to decide if you want to buy more.

Should be $60 ever to play. MMO pricing formats are rubbish.

Sure, should be 60$ because you say so correct?

Subscription services are for the gullible :steamhappy:
People have been burned by the MMO market too much, so honestly their reaction makes sense. My first assumption is i'm being gated out of relevant content and will have a lesser experience and forced to buy all of the expansions to get "the full experience." But in reality the base game is actually pretty substantial, it's free, and you can pick up some of the older expansions on sale for cheap.

Free accounts are very limited you can do basically not use any of the ingame services including the auction house this is definitely not recommended not to mention the old base content is very dated and honestly pretty bad.

You absolutely need to buy all the DLCs in GW2 since half of the content is in there.

The actual main story of the game makes absolutely no sense without playing trough the Living World episodes since they are required, if you only buy the xpacks it's impossible to follow it, seriously if you care about the story at all don't buy the xpacls without them you will be lost.

Not to mention some of the most important mounts, some gear and other important stuff is locked away in them as well!

Sure thing.
You can always set off to the world, make your own video game company and develop a MMORPG for 60$ or cheaper.

I don't need to when I can buy real RPGs with hundreds of hours of content for $5-$40.
In comparison to fetch quests for 1,000 hours that you cumulatively spent hundreds to thousands on. Hilarious!
Well now I feel bad for having been a WoW player..

WoW sub cost is $1800 over 10 years.

But if you factor in GW2's gem store monetization you get access to over $10,000 in mount skins in WoW, so you save $8,200. Deal of the century if you ask me
And if you factor in what most wow skins are (recolors), you get all that for free in gw2 plus mounts being significantly better. So whats the value of a recolor? If its overall $10,000 in wow, I can only imagine the value of the billions of color combinations in gw2.

WoW Does not cost a brand new player $1800. In fact right now you can get all the expansions for free you just need to pay a Sub LOL... Where Can I do that for GW2?
You can buy everything but the expansions for gw2 with ingame gold, so if you arent lazy and that intent on paying as little as possible for 10 years of content, then you can very easily farm the gold, wait for a sale, and get everything for $30. If thats too expensive for you, then you should probably stop playing games in general. lmao.

You can buy the living world seasons with gold that is very easy to farm in the core game via fractals. Two weeks of doing daily fractals and you can have enough gold to buy the entire second season. Faster if you are actively farming it.

Also you now get raptor at level 10 with just the core game, and absolutely no content in the game requires a mount where it is not given to you, so this is a bad argument.

Anet also very frequently gives out heroic codes for the game which removes free to play limitations (which is necessary to almost completely eradicate gold sellers and spammers, which you will struggle to find in this game).

In the end, why does it matter? One is a bigger up front purchase vs a sub MMO..
This is not a good enough argument. You could choose to farm gold and buy half the content in the bundle that way, and spend $30 on the expansions when they go on sale. Or you could put $15 a month into the game and get the bundle in 6 months.

The upfront cost of the bundle is an option, not a requirement. So acting like its the only choice and getting mad about it is silly.

Is this another troll? The cash shop is literally a tiny button at the top of the screen that only gives any sort of arguably flashy notification when its giving something out for free.

Someone having a different opinion than you isn't a troll, they're just someone with a different opinion.

You aren't saying just an opinion. You are saying something that is factually wrong.

wow is even today the better game. GW2 has nothing to offer besides an extremely toxic and unhinged community
Every community has their weirdos, but the fact that you are coming to the gw2 discussion board to talk about how much better wow is than gw2 is painfully ironic.

You get that you are the toxic unhinged wow community, right? You understand that?

P.S. Apparently it has 'something' to offer if wow is copy pasting its mount system among other things. Lmao

If you bought WoW today, it wouldn't charge you for 10 years worth of expansions like GW does, so this argument is nonsensical.
You are absolutely right!
Let's put it in the right perspective, shall we?
How much do all the expansions in WoW cost? Then add the $15 for the monthly.
Congrats, you literally spend a lot more money for 1 month of playtime.
After that one month you will have to pay $15 more. If you don't, you didn't just lose the previously paid sub, but also the purpose of the previously purchased game with the expacs.
As soon as you stop paying for the monthly fee everything you owned before that becomes worthless as you can't access it anymore. In order to access it you will have to keep paying.
What's the maintenance cost to sustain the value of your previous purchases in guild wars 2?
zero, nada, nothing.

So your going to the point of comparing a RPG to a MMORPG? Good for you, have fun with your amazing games at 5$-40$, pay no attention to GW2 maybe it's not for you but just because you don't like the pricing or the game itself don't assume that it's a bad game.
