Link old account with STEAM
Seriously Arena Net you won't let people to link their old accounts with steam? I played GW2 for few years, now I would like to move it on steam and I can't? What is the reason for that? Will you allow it in the future? If not, I won't come back playing this game.
P.S. Uninstall game via steam removed my normal launcher files...

Technical limitation, you can still launch it on steam without steam account if you follow some steps. (add -provider Portal) flag, that's all takes 20 seconds.

Plenty of MMO that can be clicked via Steam are still opens their own launchers (it was in TESO for example). Idk why you can't just open the launcher itself

I can understand that there is a technical limitation, but will they solve this problem or just don't care about that?

I would like to play this game as steam game, not just via steam as normal launcher.

We don't know that, would be silly for Anet to say anything about this if they're not sure it's possible without spending tons of money on making this simple feature that can be fixed with 2 words. Also could be Anet isn't allowed to support modifying the flags as an official way to run the game by Steam (liability issues?)

I would like to play this game as steam game, not just via steam as normal launcher.
May I ask why do you need exactly the steam version if you have the original one? There are no difference after all (if there would be this option). And you will still need to open the window (steam or original) to play the game. Just curious.

Some people want to keep track of their playtime and share the game here with friends. And just having it as an option is nice.

was allways an option as you could easely link GW2 with steam via external game, It allows to chat and use the overlay to steam this way you just needed to make a link from youre libary to youre desktop so it kept track of youre actions.

You can install it on steam and login with your existing account. You just can't buy expansions and stuff through steam. There is reddit post about it.

tl;dr - If you want to sign in with your regular account, right click on Guild Wars 2 in your steam library and select Properties. Then paste -provider Portal into the "Launch Options" box.

I'm not sure why people keep spamming this, that has nothing to do with linking your old account with your steam account, it's just letting you launch the game from steam.
It's close enough tbh

Because it solves 99% of the problems players have with being unable to link their existing accounts with Steam. The sole thing it doesn't enable is purchasing DLC through Steam (and thus with Steam Wallet) for existing accounts.

Except ESO allowed linking your existing account short time after Steam launch (or maybe even right with it, I don't remember).
