The Unreal Engine 5 speculation for GW3 is pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, because the writer didn't do their homework - NCSoft decided to move mobile AION 2 onto Unreal Engine 5, and this is tyhe reason they've been hiring people with the knowledge of the engine. From more official sources, recent interview with Bobby Stein (ArenaNet writer) reveals that they hope GW2 lasts at least for another decade. The commitments they put out (DX11, WvW rework) also point towards holding onto GW2 instead of killing it with GW3.

Is the Aion project developed by ANet, then? I'm asking because it's specifically ANet who are hiring, not NCSoft, as far as I know.

Down the road? Sure, why not.
How far down the road are we talking about?

Speculating on a forum like this is fine. It's speculation, it's what people do.
Publishing these speculations in a nice format on a dedicated website doesn't make it more than what it started out as, though.

Both NCSoft and ArenaNet share some of the offers - might be that ArenaNet has some work on AION 2 mobile as a side project, but from what Bobby said in the interview (an what game director, Josh Davis reiterated and mentioned even earlier, the game is currently at it's healthiest state since launch. ArenaNet does not have neither the manpower, funds nor reason to kill GW2 now that it gave NCSoft it's largest share of PC game earnings in the last quarter. I also want to remind you that ArenaNet attempting to branch into another GW title almost killed the studio last time they tried it (hence the Icebrood Saga fiasco and being forced to save the game via End of Dragons - which fortunately helped the game for the long run in the end)

I doubt it. Seems like it would be a better exercise all around to just develop a completely new MMO. Guild Wars has had two iterations now using virtually the same lore. A third would not bring anything to the table.

ANet said they are committed to Guild Wars 2 in one of the news letter things on their website. DX11, WvW restructure, 4th expansion, and more was what they stated as their commitments to the current game. ANet is hiring someone with Unreal 5 experience but who knows what that is about. Hopefully porting Guild Wars 1 to mobile or something because that would be awesome IMO.
I highly doubt there is a Guild Wars 3 in the works. If so they would not waste time with a 4th expansion.

I hope not, take the WOW approach, keep adding and developing the game people want to play, rather than risking a decade of work and labor for a game that will have less content than 10+years of live game will have, and risk it not being as well made or appealing.

I like their current approach.
But each new release it gets harder to keep every map filled and interesting. EoD really forgot or skipped virtually all activities. It's obvious they ran out of time or money.
And unfortunately anet never really goes back and adds to existing content.
I think there is clues that they originally planned to let you start a new toon in Cantha, they even made starting areas, training areas, a pretty compelling home city instance. But it seems the idea was cut for time.

Reason I asked and just because someone posts or writes something, it does not mean it is fact.
