Still very worth it.

If you buy all content, yes it is very much so.

Worth it, even if you do not buy all the content.

Yes

It's worth every penny you will spend on the F2P version. I guarantee it.

I played for some hours to try it out, I actually like it way more than I thought. I got to level 32 and was falling inlove with the game, the PVP is super fun as well. That is, until I realized you can't have a mount unless you buy every xpac and reach level 80, there's no way to farm leather or crafting stuff of value, and the game tells you nothing honestly about these parts of the game. You only get those crafting reagents from loot bags that have a chance to drop and another chance to give you the crafting reagents you need. It's completely RND which tires to force you to spend more time in-game.

I even asked several times in-game with /map and other zones to see if anyone could help clear things up for me, everyone told me to just buy the game or i'd get nothing at all sadly.

It is a great game, and I do love it. But the free to play is bad. I might come back later and buy the full game because of how much I like it. But lets be real, i'll probably forget now that my time is done with GW2. Teasing people with the raptor mount at level 10 for 10 hours and then telling you to buy everything plus reach level 80 really turned me off.

I'd gladly pay, but it's just not worth it imo, even if you do pay it's all loot bags/boxes that drop randomly and then MIGHT give you the mats you need.

I know it was already said in other threads plenty of times, but:
Mounts are, and always were, part of the PoF expension. Both the coregame and HoT were designed with "reaching everything on foot" in mind, hence the great ammount of waypoints. Only since the rework of the new player experience a few weeks(?) ago people got access to the raptor at level 10. Also, you neither need every expension nor do you need to be level 80, you just need PoF (which comes with HoT since they got rolled into one) and reach level 10, from then on every character can use the raptor. You only need level 80 / access to PoF regions to unlock and train the mount-masteries, but its still perfectly usable before that point in the core/HoT content.

You only need Path of Fire and you unlock your raptor at lvl 10 permanently.

You can farm leather in a similar fashion as you can farm cloth.
Karma train -> karma vendor -> salvage = leather
You can also craft stuff of value. There're a few items that players craft every day to maximize their daily income through crafting.

Free accounts don't have access to the /map chat.
Edit: I've been corrected on this. It seems that ANet removed that restriction, so f2p players can use /map chat (rate-limited).

In before somebody corrects you on this in a malicious way: yes, they do. I don't know when it happened, but map chat was made available to free players, seemingly without limit. At least I never reached it. You can even whisper to players who you are not friends with a few times.

You absolutely right - They did change that! Makes me wonder when and why they didn't say anything about it.
Regardless I apologize for writing that - I stand corrected (will edit the post).

It still is. Even more worth it with the expansions.

So many misconceptions putting people off.

The game doesn't explain any of this, and every YT video just tells you to go around the map and kill stuff while gathering other nodes, but also buy 100g glyph.

how is that not true? You have to buy 2 Expansions packs to unlock the mount, since you can't buy them alone, you have to pay $29 for the mount. And if you're not level 80 yourself then you need a level 80 friend.

Characters below level 80 can unlock this mount, and gain access to the Crystal Desert, by joining the story mission instance of a level 80 character.

Doesn't matter. I explained in my OP I do like the game, actually love it. It just sucks that nothing is explained, the Wiki is not the most up to date, YT videos assume you have the mount and know everything, and the people in the game just bash me when I ask questions. The game is great but getting bashed when you ask questions that the game doesn't explain sucks man. I know it's 10 years old but I didn't play it back then and I didn't watch videos since i wasn't playing then so i don't know the content or the way things are done. There are many systems within this game that isn't told to the player.
