Guild Wars 2

Profession struggle.
Greetings , I have an odd question.

I know that there are no classic " healer , tank , dd " in Guild Wars 2.

So I am having a hard time finding a profession because I always play healer/tank and also like to level as one.
that's not a thing in Guild Wars 2 , but I still want to try to find a way to enjoy this game.

Which profession offers the most "support/heal" ? I guess druid would be my best bet? But that's only at max LVL and before that I would be a “normal” hunter.

I could use my 80 boost on it, but i don't want to skip the level progress.

I feel you, I also play mostly those two roles in other games. I only got like ~70h, only played with guardian, it has acces to the heavy armor, and some of his skill trees are about supporting (shout build for example), not just buffing, also healing.

In gw2 most if not all classes have a support option, but most come as an elite specilization that you unlock after max lvl.
As for core class that is a good support, you can use engineer with med kit, and elementalist with water attunment.
The third option is guardian with boon support.

That said, up to lvl 80 ppl dont need a healer, so it can feel a bit slow, but at the end game healer is very good.

They all provide support/healing through skills and traits.

Guardian is the most obvious choice. It has your support from level 1 and is one of the best for the role at End game.

Support weapons (which heal) are staff, mace, and shield. Underwater, Trident heals.

Tempest elementalist is pretty fun, it should still be effective. It's all about healing and cleansing, but there are some other effects and boons to share as well. Druid is another simple choice. Firebrand and engineer are a little bit more complex, I wouldn't recommend those for beginners, but if you prefer those core professions, feel free to go that route if you wish.

I think Tempest and Druid are your healers idk. If u want to support with op shields and ressing go Scourge.

first don't use level boost on your first class.
many of use make that mistake... :(

second,
Guardian - Staff, support and healing
Ranger - Druid - Staff weapon, do damage and healing/support (HoT expansion)
Thief - Specter - Scepter weapon, damage, support, the only class who can single target support (EoD expansion)

other class, have been answered by people above me
I am not quite sure about other class, but most all can be a support.

With gw2, instead of a traditional holy trinity, you can think of them like this:

DPS, Offensive support, Defensive support.

Defensive supports are going to be, in most cases, your healers. Which one you play depends on the content you are doing, and what your squad needs.

There is heal firebrand (guardian), which is the standard go-to support class, which comes with the most utility in the game, as well as quickness, stability, condition cleanse, and aegis spam. Its heals are good, but they aren't the strongest. However, they don't need to be the strongest, because the class more than makes up for it with all its other utilities and boon output.

If you want straight up healing power, there is Heal tempest (Elementalist). Pretty much the strongest class in the game as far as healing output alone goes. Not as strong on the utility/boon output as firebrand, but it comes with permanent 25 might, permanent protection (-40% damage) for your team, and permanent alacrity (cooldown reduction).

If you want to absolutely carry your team no matter how bad they are, you can also try Heal Scourge (necromancer). Its not your traditional healer, as it doesn't really heal all that much, but it dumps massive barriers constantly, and because of its transfusion trait, you can teleport downed players to you and nearly instantly revive them. Your whole team can go down, and you can revive them all within seconds. Its extremely hard to lose when your team can't die.

The other one I can think of off the top of my head is Heal Mech (Engineer). I haven't played this spec yet, so I cant comment on it, but its pretty well known that its busted, because everything regarding mech is busted.

There are others, as you mentioned, druid is also a good healer, but its one I haven't really played since I just don't like ranger that much. But the ones I listed are very top tier support specs. If you are wanting to be super flexible as a support, go with Guardian.

Wow, i didn't expect so many helpful replies . :gorge:

Thanks for all the information , i didn't know that Guild Wars 2 has so such a deep Profession/build system.

I bought the expansions yesterday so i don't have to delete my characters anymore. :LaughingOwlcat:

Unexpected, i really like the revenant a lot at the moment. Maybe I will stick with it for a while.

In pve herald revanant has a pretty good mix of being tanky & support as well as holding your own with harder mobs. With mace/axe you also have a fair amount of cc for break bars.

If you want to level as a healer, use lvl 80 boost to get a Druid, and then play through the story and do all of the map exploration that way. Since you're already Druid, you can play through game as healer. Since you're already 80, your exp will go towards Masteries so it isn't wasted by any means.
El Fixo Sep 25, 2022 @ 12:01pm
Every class can support/heal.

That is the funny thing, pick a class that you like, then make it support heal.

Additionally any xp exceeding the mastery you are working on (or if you don't wokr on them) will grant you spirit shards, a material you need for crafting. So never worry too much about the XP bar.

If you are having a hard time with keys you can change kebinds to combos. For me 1-0 are skills but shift+ 1-7 are mounts & shift+ 8-0 are my f1, f2 & f3.

I would highly recommend rebinding keys on elementalist.
For example, I have my attunement swaps on Q, E, R, and C so they are all within comfortable reach. Its actually more convenient for any class with a lot of F# keys.

Unless of course you are comfortable with the F# keys.
