About gathering tools
Can I repair them or do I need to buy more when I hit 0 on them?

Buy more
I believe the only perm ones are the ones you can purchase in the cash shop.
all others you purchase from npcs and when you run out yes, you purchase more.
Also keep in mind that as you hit higher level maps you need higher level gathering tools or you will gather items that are useless, like rotten herbs etc.

You can buy 250 stacks for 1 laurel each.

Ah ok thanks for the info. I'll look into the perm ones maybe.

If you decide to buy any permanent ones, maybe look out for some with useful glyphs. Though gettign a full set of those tools is quite expensive, I think around 3000 gems or so. And yeah, other than that you have to buy the limited ones again and again and again .... quite a bit of my inventory got used up as temporary space for a few spare tools so I don't have to constantly buy new ones ... and yet I waited quite long untill I got them, since the Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic was a much higher priority to salvage alll the llower quality gear, especially since with a single shared inventory slot, which you should have with an expansion, you can use it for all your characters, unlike the gathering tools wich have to be equipped.

Ya I just saw that it was 1000 gems per. I might wait on that, I'll mess with salvaging for now

If you want to check out what the glyphs are like there are vendors that sell tools with the function of the glyphs. You can also get the glyphs separate on the tp for gold but the most popular are around 250-300gold. I use watchnight, leather & cloth. If you use the leather & cloth you can gather specific level mats by going to certain maps.

I was looking at the unlimited gathering tools wiki page and theres alot of them, do they all serve the same function of gathering all nodes of that type or is there different tier levels per different tool?

The main differences between them is their gathering animation and some allready have gllyphs inside them. The tools all have different cast times and animation aftercast duration. So some are simplly faster than others, and with some you immediately can continue going once it's done and some others try to force you standing around for a bit longer, though it is possible to skip the aftercast if you try to move, though it's still anoying compared to no aftercast.

Here's a list with the times of the tools, sadly we do not yet have the data of the newer tools:

I guess the page also tells you that the vollatile magic tools give quite a bit of money if you can use the magic that you get with it, since it has very low payoff strikes.

My personal opinion here, but if you're going to drop gems, get the copper fed salvage-o-matic first.

Harvesting tools are cheap and stack pretty high, I just keep an extra stack in an invisible bag and I never want for them. If I have permanent tools, that's a few inventory slots freed up and some pocket change I save for every 100 swings. Having the copper fed salvage in my shared inventory slot means all my characters can salvage on the go infinitely freeing up much more bag space. It's also worth pointing out that to get best use of either of them you'll want to park it in shared inventory slots so all characters can use it without banking and retrieving. Salvage machine only takes one slot but to have all the tools you'd need three, so on top of buying the tools with the glyphs you'd probably want to get shared bag space on top of it.

Anyway, that's my sales pitch to tell you how to spend your gems lol. Copper salvage machine offers a much larger benefit for a lot less gems imo.

This. Copper-fed is one of the best things I've bought in the entire game, and never loses its usefulness. Saves so many trips to vendors and inventory space.

You can get a 250 stack of good salvage kits at the Mystic Forge by combining mystic stones with a fine, journeyman, and master salvage kit. Freeing up the salvage slots lets me take more gathering tools and you don't need to go back for more often.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo XD

Laurels are worth a lot more then that . Like you can get ~40-50s for 1 Laurel compared to 4 sivler for 100-50 charge tool . So even if you are picking up Orichalcum Harvesting Sickle with 50 charges for 4s you would still waste more then 20-30s on each one you pick up with Laurels .

Be mindful in what permanent harvesting tool you buy. Some will give bonus items while harvesting, and some are just unbreakable tools. You may get more use out of the special tools that give you bonus items that cost the same amount of gems.

Ok thanks, like I said for now I'm gonna hold off on buying anything with gems until I know for sure what to get.
