Can you upgrade to the complete edition at a discount if you buy the first 2 expansions?
Can you upgrade to the complete edition at a discount if you buy the first 2 expansions?

Anyone with the first 2 expansions that can verify it takes $30 off if you do this?

Thinking of diving in at $30 and upgrading to complete later if that's possible. (to get rid of the F2P limitations)

I've wondered about this myself. I bought the the first expansion so i could convert my account into a full one and get all of the features.

The price of the complete collection is still fully priced for me and does not take into account that i own Heart of Thorns + Path of Fire, which i find strange.

Furhermore, if i go onto the store page there is no button to buy the bundle, i can only buy it as a gift.

That sucks.... :( Thanks for the confirmation... so its $100 or bust then if I want all the content on steam....(or use the gem store to get the living world)

No, you can't. Only packs that have a blue "BUNDLE" keyword next to their name give you a discount for owning some of the content.

It's better to just not answer when you don't know the correct answer than to give out misinformation.

I bought PoF/HoT only, and the bundle now can only be added to cart as a gift. That's fine though, as the need to add them will be later, and I'm expecting either sales, or in game events with an opportunity to either have a special on them, a different bundle, or even a free event.

With 'just' HoT and PoF you already should be good for quite a while, the next thing you probably woudl want to do is getting the living story seasons, for which you dynamically can use money to buy the needed gems to buy them or also convert a bit of gold to gems. Unless you just rush through the story it should take you a really long time time to actually need the last expansion. There are so many things you can do along your way through the story, you surely won't run out of content any time soon..

The problem with this is that buying living world seasons with gems turns out to be very expensive. It's 4160 gems to get every living world season which for me comes out to be roughly 20% more expensive than it is on Steam.

I guess we could just farm gold and convert it to gems but for new players that isn't very practical.

Buying all living story seasons with gems costs a bit over 50€. If you buy the pack with all 3 expansions on their website it costs 50€, so together with the gems you are at around 100€, which is the price of the complete edition here on Steam. Just that if you do it via gems you can also get a part of the gems with gold instead of money. So the difference is really not that huge.

They sometimes do deals on the LW seasons (30% off). If you buy all seasons on these sales it's almost 3000 gems. So if you're not in a hurry you can wait for these.

This is good info, thanks. I'll probably just wait and hope for a sale then.

I think standard Steam "rules" apply here, too.
You buy an expansion now and if you later choose to buy the bundle, the expansion(s) you already own will be discounted from the price.

That's how 99% of DLC bundles work, but with this game it's all topsy-turvy.

The store is operated by Steam, not ANet, if that's your concern.
