For the current best farms you can ask the players in mapchat and they will gladly tell you where to go.
Here's a quick tutorial on how to maximize your gold production:

My advise, do whatever content you love doing and just keep doing it. Most of this games content is designed to replace whatever you are not doing. This means if you want to do WvW early and end up Lv80, youll have paths to collect gear from PVE and resources from PVE since you skipped the PVE game world, same is true for battleground sPVP (structured PVP). If you like exploring the world for vistas ect, just do that, if you like questing, go pick a random spot in the world and start enjoying it. Or just stick to PVP.
Some people get hung up on following that single player story line chain, and it bores them, but they feel the need to do it first to level. Same with heart quests. Filling that heart getting boring? Go do other content and just skip it.
Its very easy to weave in and out of game content in Gw2 without putting youself at a disadvantage by skipping content. You never fall behind on gear, so its super easy to jump in after a year off and go right back to what you liked doing with no catch up or downside for missing time played.
Do what you like and the gold will flow. Some things will have better gold returns, but doing things you don't like will leave you bored and quitting.

Both use the API generated on the Arenanet site. Not sure if you can get one using Steam. Many other websites and mods use this.
You can deposit crafting ingredients at any time by clicking the button at the top of the inventory screen. If you get full on a single resource either sell the unsalavged gear directly, or salvage the gear and sell the raw materials.
This way you'll have enough ingredients to do your own crafting and also make some side money
You can get the API with the Steam version, I just did it.
Just make sure your using the Steam login option on the Arenanet site. I have an old account so that comes up by default but the Steam login option is directly below it.
Wrote about it here:

I think I made 1000+gold on skyscale food alone. And those antique summoning stones were super profitable for awhile.
Grothmor Valley was super profitable as well.
Another tip: join a guild - they usually advertise in map chats, especially in starter areas. The guild hall nodes can be gathered daily. If anyone offers "Home Instance", join them in the major city they are calling out. The nodes in the home instance can also be gathered daily. Just make sure to have the best gathering tools[wiki.guildwars2.com] your level allows.
Last but not least: The guild "[fast] Farming Community" has an excellent website[fast.farming-community.eu] with a lot of resources on how to make gold and what's more profitable. Obviously, it will all make sense more at level 80.
Also please don't be afraid to ask questions on Map chat. We older players love meeting and helping new people like yourself.

I personally made my fortune from flipping seasonal rewards. I crafted 28 legendary wpns from that process alone
