F2P Mounts?
I am absolutely in love with the game. The price tag, not so much.

How does a free2play member acquire a mount.

(P.S DO NOT MENTION BEETLE RACER RENTING--USELESS)

Thanks!

That's the neat thing, you don't.

Keep in mind, too, that the F2P areas were built to be done without a mount. Some folks say you should at least do the entire discovery of tyria once on foot.

Yeah, as SeaDog said, the F2P areas weren't designed with mounts in mind. Mounts weren't introduced until the second expansion was released in 2017, so everything from the base game to Living World Season 3 (the DLC that's just after the first expansion) was designed to be traversable without mounts.

It used to be that you needed either the second or third expansions and that you needed to complete certain story chapters within either expansion to unlock the raptor (the basic mount). As part of the new player experience changes, ANet made it so that you can unlock the raptor from as early as level 10 and they also made it so that free accounts get limited access to the raptor behind a 10 hour trial period.

F2P accounts only get a 10-hour trial. It's character based, so if you make another character in the future, that one will also unlock it for ten hours at level 10.

You said you enjoy the game. If it's the Complete Collection's price that is the issue, you might want to consider buying only one of the expansions. Maybe wait a little too, as ANet usually offers the expansions on a discount about once a year.

As it is, you having no mount in the base game does not lock you out of any content in the areas you have access to. In fact, those were not designed with mounts in mind at all.

Thanks for input, I have made the decision to complete f2p without mount and explore on foot. I am a completionist anyways.

Don't look at it as if you have to buy the whole collection, it only saves a few dollars, just start off with buying Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire, the first two expansions, that will give you a lvl 80 boost and full access to everything except the living world seasons and end of dragons, and those can be bought at a later time if you continue to enjoy the game

all the mounts (other then turtle) are part of the path of fire expansion (turtle is end of dragons) so sadly no mounts for base game players.

And imo it's more immersive that way, when mounts arrived in 2017 i had mixed feelings and some people didn't want mounts in central tyria. Everyone was used to walk n run around.

The Price is for an MMORGP the CHEAPEST one on the Market.
You pay ONE TIME 60Euro for the Expansions. All other stuff will be for FREE.

Its like buying an Tripple A Game for 60Euro.

And if you Check the Other Games, Monthly Sub for 12-15euro. Every Year an 40-60euro Expansion. Every few Weeks another Cheaper one.

In my Eyes GW2 is even to Cheap for that what you get from it.
I played alot of ESO before and yes.. i can say that. Becase in ESO you get 99% ONE Small new Map and some PvP Pay2win Stuff from the Expansion. What do you get in GW2 for an only 30Euro Expansion? YES MUCH MORE and no Pay2Win at all.

Gw2 Not PAY To WIN
just Pay for easy life for explore and farming lvl
if u an F2P u just take a long time to play then paid
but u can still do all content in GW2 just take a time and on foot
btw. this good to pay 1 per time for Expansion den't like Pay for rent like FF Online or WoW
that will take u wallet fly away

You can't get mounts with the core game (f2p). To get access to the mounts you need Path Of Fire (which added mounts to the game. If you want the glider you need Hearth of Thorns.
Both HOT and POF are sold together as a bundle.
I am really enjoying walking around to be honest. I like to read the lore and statues and I did miss a few landmarks using the Trial Mount. Thanks for advice! I will buy the expansions when I do everything I can in base f2p

Depending on the class you might be able to get a permanent passive 25% buff, like from an ability or from a signet, that might help. Teleporting skills are also quite nice. And an ability that grants you swwiftness obviously also helps. For example the elementalist has an ability that gives him said 25% buff while attuned with air and also a signet of air that simply always provides it as its passive or the mesmer has the signet of inspiration, that grants 5 seconds of swiftness every 10 seconds as its passive. But be aware that only the highest increase in movement speed will be applied, and while out of combat it's caped at 33%, aka swiftness speed (So the 100% from the superspeed buff is mostly useless out of combat since it's not faster than swiftness). So no need for 2 25% buffs.

...so much knowledge I attained while running around in Tyria, it feels like I really didn't need it that much anymore since mounts got added. But I guess I still always try to be attuned to air.
