Sure, that's why there are still DE builds floating around that are considered WvW meta for roamers. It never had much utility in a zergball, considering what other profs bring.
Be careful with the WvW meta, there are a few websites that try to host meta builds but really its up to the guild, and thats only if you roll WvW in a guild with voice comms, otherwise meta fall apart fast.
Look at maguuma, its a random hivemind pug there that counters massively organized "meta built" blobs, and usually wrecks them, with their unorganized pug that isnt communicating at all, other than map chat lulz. Granted some server/guild/streamers can organize a solid boonball that the pug will struggle with, but they never hang around long enough in WvW to matter.
Ive been using a "wtf are you doin?" build in WvW successfully for a while, granted its trash 1v1....
With a bloody DE, which I don't do as much as I'd otherwise do (because stealth, as a mechanic, is still stupidly broken in terms of possible counters) only because Daredevil (and, oddly enough, core) trait lines synergize better with hit and run and applying pressure. It's not that DE is bad, it's that alternative builds are even better.
You can still get 100-0 against majority of roamer builds on DE, with the only problem being it's gated behind EoD gear (Dragon's).
People who complain about recent thief nerfs are just QQing about getting their EZ mode removed. Thief is still extremely powerful, and I'm not even near the level of the really good roamers.
Isn't that because of Mag's core of "hardcoor PvPers" that transfered there a few years back? Lol, our server lost the entire WvW-exclusive guild, that was built up over the years from the population of most dedicated WvWers, to Mag at the time of the great migration. No wonder their server is over-representing the high-end skill bracket.
Not to mention that every time our server goes against Mag I'm STILL outranked compared to the average enemy I run into from their side, even during zergball pirate-shipping. Could be because I only play at the same time when those come out of the woodwork, though :)
And Mag's overpopulation is never going to be touched, since that's literally the server the NCSoft's CEO plays on (and all the devs that do play). Good place to be if you're in it for the ganks, I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Over time many, lets just call it PVP sociopaths, will migrate to maguuma becuase its famous as a WvW server for being absolutely insane.
Strongest part of mag is, imo, not the guilds or the famous leaders *one who is incredibly toxic always lol* its the general pug seems to be unafraid of being outnumbered and just flat out aggressive in a good way.
We might lose SMC to a guild for a bit, but they just wont be on long enough to deal with the standing rando pug of mag savages.
Happens all the time, we get linked with some small server, the pvp actives love what they see on mag and transfer. Then the toxic granny logs on and they dont like it as much lol.
Don't remember which year all that fun happened, but since then Mag ran on incomparably higher skill level of average WvWer.
You're not the only server that's aggressive, but you're one where the average person in WvW is going to be able to carry it through often enough.
That's the difference, and that's why you can afford to cloud.
The rest of us have to do with constant cycle of additional newbieish "reinforcements."
That was the servers heyday. Long past. The "leaders" hardly log on, and when they do end up getting mad at something for some reason. Most of mag is just the pug, be it mag tags's or randoms.
Honestly the higher end players usually only log on when a streamer is live or a famous leader is on to guide them. 95% of the server is just aggressive derps like me that end up doing far better than they should. Most dont even want to join MAG guild anymore its lost its appeal as a glamorus pvp guild.
"Vets" do not have their Gw2 account linked to Steam. So if you see a review of the game, The likelihood of it being written by a pre-steam player is extremely low.
For the same reason, the The Steam Numbers when it comes to active player count does not reflect the population of the game. It's indecent to think that a game that's been active for 10 years and is on par with the most popular MMos on the market does not have an active playerbase. Again if you think so, I dare you to check the game for yourself. If you dont feel like downloading, check out youtube impressions of the game and gauge the population from what you see. I'm pretty sure some players will want to make videos of their starter experience.
A lot of people complaining about the game are neither Steam beginners, nor vets. Many have admitted to quitting the game for another game (which they cant wait to tell you all about) in some vague attempt at getting back at a game they couldn't get into. As a result they give purposefully false or skewed arguments as to why the game is bad and do not back those arguments up. Think better and dont believe anything you read at face value, especially if that consist of a throwaway remark by someone who has barely 1 hour of game time on steam, or pretend to have been playing the game for 10 years (and still give factually wrong info about the game's most recent mechanics.). They have likely not played the game recently and cannot account for what's in it.
Experience the game for yourself, and dont listen to Anyone, whether they praise or diss the game. The core game gives you enough content for months of active play for free, knock yourself out.
Last time we went against Mag, after hours of trying to roam to find lone targets, only to get jumped by three or four add-ons when engaging, I just ended up logging in only when our zergball was up and running.
Playing against Mag is not fun, and I'm perfectly happy losing after derping around. But that's not the case, it's always just going against insurmountable odds. Meh.
So they got you with the flaming sword skin collectors item.
How can you confirm that?
Just because I make fewer than 2 posts per minute does not mean I'm not taking my shill job seriously.
