How/Where do you get your first mount?
Hey, so I jumped back into the game after a 2+ year break. I'm level 30 something Necromancer and bought the game originally at release, but have no DLC.

I logged back in today for the first time and am of course, totally lost. But I'd like to at least get my mount to make traveling a bit quicker.

Where do I go to get my first mount?

Also, any other tips for returning players who are completely lost upon return? I guess continue my story quests?

Thanks!

Mounts come from the Path of Fire expansion. You don't have to be level 80 to use them. I think you can even unlock it at a lower level if you have someone carry you through the first PoF story mission.

To make it clear: you DO need to own the xpac for mounts.

Yup. If you join someone and have them run through the first mission in PoF you can unlock the Raptor

First you need to get your wallet to buy the expansion to get the mount.

You shouldn't care for mounts if you haven't finished the base game first, otherwise you're going to spoil the content to yourself and miss out on learning about the game.

You need to actually be lvl 80 if you want to finish the section that earns you the raptor and that won't be doable alone.

Someone can carry you yeah, but it makes no sense trying to obtain it, even if you did. You'd be stuck with the very basic raptor with no abilities to ever improve on until you can reliably earn mastery points for the mount to improve, that is end game content only possible when you are maxed and is only possible to progress in PoF areas.

Just play the game normally, forget about the mount or glider until you are ready to be involved with them.

At best basic raptor only saves you sometime when you're still in core where as when will be the time for you to obtain them all for where the game was built to have them, you'll understand and see through by experience why you were fine from the start.

Same thing for the glider, basic glider can save you from dangerous falls yes but those falls are usually falls that you weren't trying to progress anywhere to because vistas and objectives typically don't permit them, same for mounts too.

A lot of areas are restricted and you'll be forced to play the game as it was intended.

Get 1 single character to max level, get the path of fire expansion, do the first story mission in that expansion to unlock the mount, then you can use that mount on any character on your account, including new level 1 characters.
