NO OCEANIC SERVERS.
Title says it all, enjoy mid to high 200+ ms if you're in NZ or AUS. The game is great but they seriously need at least one oceanic server, otherwise I wouldn't touch it.

If playing with over 150 ping is not a problem for you, you are most certainly in the casual minority or gamers on this forum. That is the most polite way I could phrase it.

There is no South America servers either, ~200ms PING (not FPS) around here. Despite that, there is large and active community of Latin players. It would be great to have a server near me, but this isn't reason to "not touch it".

sorry to necro, but its taken me 8 pages flicking through this forum till i found a valid complaint.

Yeah, playing from Japan and I also wish there was an Oceanic/SEA server or two. I get about 250-270ms on the NA servers. It's not really a problem most of the time though since this isn't a first-person shooter or anything. Under 100ms would sure be nice though.

Hey, not being able to play the game on Steam if you already own the game is a valid complaint.

Not really. there are other games that seperate account management. EvE online being one of them. Games dont have to explicitly be on steam. but then i dont have a problem going to several different shops when i do my groceries, i dont expect the supermarket to have every last product ;)

That was kind of unrelated to the argument, but it's more work for them to make the game not playable on Steam by existing players than to make it playable.

no, existing playters liek myself will do what they allready do, open the game launcher.
Edit - and infact, its actually more work for both valve and anet to tie them together and makes things awkward for account management. they are keeping it simple.
Edit 2- an after thought, id rather they spend the time finishing of icebrood and making end of dragons awesome than wasting time faffing about with account management.

I'm in Australia and I've never had a problem with playing with people or anything like that. I'm on Seafarer's Rest, in the EU servers.

LMAO imagine thinking that 200ms is "high ping". I'm in Malaysia and on my best days I get 350ms (when it's bad I get upwards of 1k ms). Anyway, if you're getting that low ping it shouldn't make any difference. I had no problems in PvP or WvW even at 500~ ms, the game has shared tagging for loot.

dont get my above necro wrong, it works can get bad in certain moments but it works. what i was trying to highlight was it took me 8 pages to find a complaint that was valid, small yes, but still valid.

A half decent player will step into pvp and immediately realise skills not landing as the developers intend. I play with 240 from OCE -> NA and I feel the disadvantage and chunkiness of 'instant' cast skills.

Moreover, playing from OCE - EU on 200ms I feel a positive difference.

Certain classes and playstyles aside, generally speaking, the less a player notices high latency the worse at GW2 they must be.

i have a 5 year old pc and gw2 works smooth as for me and i am in Australia

@Arenanet.
Do not offer this product to regions outside of NA and EU. If a customer's ping to both Frankfurt (EU) or Ashburn (NA) is 100-150+, then GW2 is a BAD purchase, and negligent sale on ArenaNet's part.
I live in Western Australia and play on 215ms to Frankfurt. I have muddled through enough content to earn legendary raid armor. I've played enough fractals to have a personal fractal level of 100. I am on the cusp of Platinum in sPVP. Those who have spectated elite NA teams vs elite EU teams during Teapot's Global MOTA tournament will understand what I am talking about. Ping is a serious issue in high-end content. It is an insurmountable disadvantage in PVP.
@Arenanet do not offer the product to us without the necessary infrastructure for >150 ping.
