DiRT 2

DiRT 2

Controller doesn't work in Dirt 2 at all
I have XBOX One controller connected by wire and game doesn't recognize it at all.
I've installed it may be a half year ago and it was working just fine.
Of course controller works in Forza Horizon 4 or any other racing or not racing game. Tomb Rider or AC, for example.

Also, I've tried to configure it in Steam game settings. Controller is displayed there and still doesn't work in game itself.

I wasn't able to find any solution in google. Is there any at all?

Obvious one first. Have you gone into the options > Controls and clicked on the change preset? The controllers are usually listed there to select. If not then try going to the game folder in steam and double clicking the dirt2.exe application there to boot the game. This worked for me but im using an XBOX 360 controller

Thx man, a lot. It really helped! I've checked controls preset before I created the post. And something about half a year there was simple choice between keyboard and controller. But now, if the game is started through steam, there is not option except keyboard. Really weird staff.

Looks like it is the "Steam controller settings" that are causing some kind of issue. I was having the same problem and have found the solution.

Go to Library>Dirt 2>Manage/Settings button>Properties>Controller> Under "OVERRIDE FOR DIRT 2" tab change "Use default settings" to "Disable Steam Input".

Xbox 360/One controller tested working and I think this most likely resolves any steering wheel detection problem also.

If you run games from dirt2 exe in its install folder and then go into settings when running and choose xbox360 controller it works perfect, i'm using an aftermarket xbox type wireless controller with no issues. Dont run through steam as steam overlays its own flawed controller settings.
