YoloMouse

Demo works, Steam version don't
I bought the Steam version to use in Guild Wars 2. The steam version won't work and stops responding, even when running as Administrator. To try and get as much information as possible I tried the demo from the website and it works just perfect.

What kind of steps can I go through to check what's up?

Update, installing on the C: drive seems to work, I initially installed on another drive.

Thanks for info. Normally I only test installs on C:. Will try other drives as you did to see whats up :)

Still having issues with the Steam version, Steam reports the program as running, icon is on the windows bar, can't right-click it, steam won't stop it at all.

Taskmanager is not showing it as running either (Game Cursor Changer or YoloMouse)

Trying to investigate this one as well. Does it work ok upon a fresh reboot for you?

Also YM is being currently rewritten with heavy focus on performance and stability. Such issues should be fixed. Should be ready within a week.

Works fine as soon as I reboot

problem+1

I have the problem too. My steps to repro:

1) Start the computer, start steam, start YoloMouse, game on.
2) Close the game and walk away for several hours.
3) Return and wake the computer / screens up.
4) Note that Game Cursor Changer (GCC) has moved down on its own to Background processes. It's no longer nested under Steam Client Bootstrapper in Apps.
5) Kill GCC and start it up again.
6) YoloMouse works normally again.

I'm currently doing an experiment to see if it's an interaction with either the screens going to sleep or the computer going to sleep.

Confirmed - I can get a hang to occur in a couple of ways.

Scenario 1: After the monitors have fallen asleep.
  1. Settings -> Power & Sleep
  2. Screen: When plugged in, turn off after: *1 minute*
  3. Sleep: When plugged in, PC goes to sleep after: *Never*
  4. Close Settings.
  5. Start YoloMouse
  6. Check the right-click context menu for YoloMouse in the System Tray. Should be fine.
  7. Wait two minutes - I waited until the displays were completely de-energized.
  8. Move the mouse to wake the screens up.
  9. YoloMouse will still be listed under the Steam Client Bootstrapper in Task Manager for a little while before it drifts down to the background app list in the Task Manager.
  10. Observe that no right-click context menu is accessible for YoloMouse from the icon in the
  11. System Tray.
  12. Start a game.
  13. Observe that YoloMouse no longer functions to replace the cursor.
  14. Kill Game Cursor Changer
  15. Start YoloMouse again.
  16. Observe that the right-click context menu works now.
  17. Observe that YoloMouse controls the cursor appearance as expected.

Scenario 2: Help -> About from the system tray.
  1. Start Task Manager
  2. Launch Steam
  3. Launch YoloMouse
  4. In the System Tray, right-click on YoloMouse and choose About
  5. Leave the About screen up for 10 seconds. YoloMouse will pop out from under Steam and drift to the top of the app list in Task Manager.
  6. Close About
  7. YoloMouse hangs. Right-clicking on it again from the system tray doesn't work, and
  8. Windows reports that it has crashed.

That's it! My system:

Intel 4700K oc to 4.2 via OC Genie
EVGA GTX 1080 Ti
16GB Memory
A few hard drives. :-)

Two displays:
Display 1: Secondary, 1980x1024, Samsung LC32F391FWNXZA, 60Hz, DisplayPort
Display 2: Primary, 2560x1440, Dell S2716DG, 144Hz, DisplayPort

Software:
Windows 10, patched current, rebuilt one week ago
YoloMouse 1.0.0.2

Good luck. YoloMouse is a great app. You got this.

Edit: After going through this, I did two things.
  • I followed the OP's observation and tried the non-Steam client. It behaves normally, without crashing. I also play Guild Wars 2, so we tested in the same game.
  • I took the developer advice and moved the installation to drive C: before following this step plan again. It fails either way.

Aaaaaand one last thing:

If YoloMouse is actively replacing the mouse in Guild Wars 2 while I do these steps, everything works correctly and it doesn't crash.

*shrug*

Any updates on this? Would maybe buy this program but not until the massive performance issues I see talked about in the reviews are fixed

YoloMouse is now working for me without any problems, thanks for the update :)

I'm new to Yolo Mouse. All I can get it to do in Guild Wars 2 is change cursor size. I can't get any custom cursor to display or anything other than change the GW2 cursor size.

Am I supposed to download and install custom cursors from elsewhere first? Does the Steam install of Yolomouse not actually with cursors?

Edit: I've noticed that what's happening when I use any hot key other than the resize ones, it's making the Guild Wars 2 window inactive, regardless of whether the game is in Windowed, Windowed Fullscreen or Fullscreen mode.

In fact when the game is in Fullscreen mode, pressing any YoloMouse hotkeys it minimises the game and I'm left looking at the desktop. Upon re-entering the game the cursor still hasn't changed.

several cursors are included. steam and nonsteam versions are nearly identical..

hit CTRL ALT 1 (or 2) to change a cursor. verify this works for you in other games (or apps like firefox/chrome).
Chalis Jul 8, 2020 @ 12:53am
I've tested it in Chrome and some other games. Always the same result. Can change the cursor size but nothing else. When I press other hotkey commands, like Crtl + Alt + 1, or 2, or anything else, nothing happens other than it makes the current window/fullscreen application no longer the active window, meaning in games that are windowed or fullscreen windowed I have to click back into them first before I can continue to interact with it.

For fullscreen apps, pressing any combination of hotkeys, other than Ctrl + Alt + =, or -, it minimises the app.
