Level based matchmaking sucks

The first 15 hours I spent with this game were great with varied matches in which I was even able to win a few, then I hit a level cap that stopped putting me into matches with everyone else and started putting me into matches with level 40 premade teams in which I'm almost always the lowest level player in the entire match.

So I wait over 5 minutes to queue with the few people who are at that level and if I'm lucky I can play for 5 minutes before getting destroyed in the first or second encounter. This has happened for 10 matches straight now and at this point I don't even want to look for another match because I already know what the outcome will be.

If you aren't going to constrain matchmaking based on rank then you might as well get rid of level based matchmaking because all its doing is funneling players into a meat grinder of the highest level players with the most experience until they quit which I'm about ready to do because I sure as hell don't want to waste any more time sitting in a queue to be someone elses cannon fodder.

I don't think there is level based matchmaking. I think a lot of the more casual players just left already or your MMR got too high from doing well enough.

There aren't any lower level players in my matches at all. Either there's not a single new person playing this game anymore or there's level brackets for matchmaking which explains my queue times ballooning to a ridiculous degree as I level up and find myself unable to match with the majority of the playerbase anymore.

What this game doesn't have is MMR, which is why the highest ranked players get matched against the lowest ranked players along with people who aren't even playing ranked at all. So instead you just reach a difficulty curve akin to a brick wall once you end up in the level bracket where the only players left are the ones with hundreds of hours in the game who keep playing because they can pubstomp.

So unless you can compete with that you're basically ♥♥♥♥ out of luck and will just find yourself getting stomped by them over and over again until you quit which further exacerbates the problem.

I would rather have no level brackets at all and have next to no chance at winning because every match has a level 50 team in it and at least have some good gameplay in between with a variety of players than be matched with nothing but those level 50 teams nonstop and have every game take longer to find than I actually spend playing it because I lose in the first encounter almost every time.

There really just aren't new people left playing. Currently less than 3k players in game, thats across 4 regions.

There's not a doubt in my mind that if I made a smurf account I'd go right back to having instant queue times with matches full of players who are all under level 10 like when I started playing a few days ago. The player count hasn't gone down that much since then.

I don't get how you think there literally being no new players at all in a free to play game makes more sense to you than this game using level based matchmaking and thats why you don't see any yourself.

You'd go back to having instant queue times with matches mostly full of bots. Your first several levels put you in games that have some real people, but lots of bots, to make you feel good.

Didn't played since four days but unless it went very quickly, each time I played there were always lvl 10 or below mixed with lvl 10-30 in my games while I'm around 20
There should still be new/low xp players and lvl-based matchmaking could be a thing, makes sens at least for first levels

Yeah, I mentioned that new players are mostly put in their own queue that also has a lot of bots. Once you get out of that new player queue into the main queue, I'm like 99% sure there is no level based matchmaking. I can see level 17s and 50s in my matches.

Additionally, you don't seem to understand how badly the game is bleeding players. It's down to about 20% of what it had on launch, and those are not many new players. I run into the same 100 or so people match after match because there just aren't more people to run into.

Only the first few matches have bots, it takes way more than a few matches to reach level 10, and my queue times were instant that entire time. You run into the same 100 or so people because out of the thousands of players in the game you're only allowed to matchmake with the ones at a high enough level to match with you, and they're having a horrible time because they just stopped being allowed to play with everyone else after playing for 15 hours and are now forced to play with you who has played for 150 hours as opposed to people who have played for 10 hours and are more on their level. The level brackets for matchmaking are awful, end of story, and should be gotten rid of entirely or replaced with MMR.

It literally has MMR. The people I run into aren't all high level but they are all high rank. Typically diamond or master. You can tell when the ranked squads get eliminated. Even in unranked this still happens because ranked and unranked are queued together. When I play with lower ranked players (silver/bronze) I end up playing in lobbies with different people that are around silver/gold.

As time has gone on though, I see higher and higher ranks appear when I do end up in parties (from the discord) with low ranked players, because there just aren't that many left playing the game.
