Also it depends on your weapon, I was using 1h swords so I was always getting the best 1h swords I had and if needed I changed armor to something less heavy to not pass through first symbol of weight because I would be slower.
So my advice is:
- If you play with 1h weapons that are not heavy, try to keep your weight on tier 1
- if you play with 2h weapons that are heavy, try to keep your weight on tier 2
Also when you fight bosses remember to check your armory becasue you probably noticed that some of them have protection from different types of enemies so it is good to change armor with protection from some boss.
I agree, speed and ultimately the ablity to dodge quickly seems important out of all the battles I've been in so far. I just repaired the Blacksmith and finally got to put those blueprints to use, so it'll be interesting to see what equipment I get.
I assume you mean which weapon-type (1h or 2h) is my favorite and manage weight accordingly. If so I suppose I fall under your first advice which I've been keeping on the edge usually.
I've been using the plate armor looking set in heavy due to it's high defence stat, which seems to work out well; although I do switch to other sets if the defence stat is similar enough for the current quest.
Somewhat unrelated, but I feel like a lot of people complaining on here about the difficulty of the game aren't managing their stats well or simply had the wrong idea of what the game's combat was? It doesn't feel particularly "unfair", rather it just feels like combat moves quickly and expects the player to keep up.

I do admit that the health being in the top-left corner is an uncomfortable spot during combat.
I mean, if the weight bar is affected by each object's specific stats, is there an actual reason to have distinct categories?
And is there any point in equipping heavier stuff, when any boss is going to drain all your health in a single combo as soon as you miss one dodge? And yet, some bosses are still way faster than you even if you're in feather mode.
